Start late. Saturday April 16th.

We should be well over the peak by then.

No scheduled byes.

18 rounds. Everyone play the other teams twice.

Home and away would finish August 13th.

This gives 2-3 weeks wriggle room to postpone the occasional  round and start finals in September.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Sounds sensible.

What is with the hold up with the fixtures?
Pre season games would be starting in a month or so.
Do we take it there may be more issues with WCER & Peelmantle availability for this season?

Jonny

You have to toggle to the bottom right of the quote. Hover there for a bit and you then see a red enter key and red line. Press that.

Use to bug me too

Start a bit later, this summer is far to hot anyway, something the league will have to think about as our summers are getting longer and hotter.

Time for more night games as well - early in the season.

Yep too bloody hot for too long.  Problem is that most grounds lights aren't up to scratch to have night footy.  I know ours aren't anyway.

Seeing as its going to be a forgone conclusion soon how do people see our footy season panning out locally when someone from a WAFL team or any local footy team get a positive covid test? Will all quarantine rules stay and a team is pulled for 1 possibly 2 matches or are we going to be allowed to play regardless? If we are just going to open everything up do we finally just live our lives and keep playing or is sport going to be shut down?

The general feeling is the Wafl to proceed as normal. Still not seen any fixtures as yet. Usually would have been released by now. Unclear why the hold up? If one of the players tests positive should see that person placed in isolation for the specified time. If the remainder of the team/ club is clear, the competition should play on. Early in the china virus pandemic, the season would be affected as we saw in twenty 20. Nowadays, better management procedures are in place and more is known. We should see the season commence sometime in April. The cricket was held recently over east without too much fuss. Why was that not closed down? The basketball season is proceeding over east also and fantastic to see the Lynx have a win the other day and currently 3rd spot on the ladder standings. Unclear when they will be playing a Home match? The mens basketball is up and running after the new year break. With the wildcats having played most games away, although a couple of home games too I believe.
With plenty of sport currently being held, is a safe bet the Wafl will not be affected to any great degree. Or it shouldn't be!

Apparently the week 1 of fixtures gets the season under way on the 16th of April twenty 22. Which is the Saturday afternoon, so I'm told. And have no reason to doubt the person conveying the news.

Yep, definitely write it in pencil because you might need to rub it out if what's happening with the remainder of the cricket season is any guide - the Premier and WASTCA season's look like being truncated to end mid-Feb because of the expectation of a COVID outbreak post-Feb 5 and the consequent impact on players and officials.

And of course in the absence of any strategic guidance from the State Government to businesses and community organisations on what post-Feb 5 looks like, everyone's making their own decisions.
