Saw in the paper this morning that Wilson, Selwood and Morton were named as emergencies for the Eagles, so some of these guys may be released to play for the Royals today. Maybe they will keep one out just in case of last minute problems. Swans only change is Hilderbrandt in for Newman, who has been given compassionate leave by the Eagles to deal with personal issues

Agreed...the silence is deafening...hope Murray is ok and that he realises he's only got a small window of opportunity to have a crack at footy at the highest level if indeed he wants to play footy at all....there's nothing wrong with an honest 6 day a week working life like (most of) the rest of us, just doesn't seem to me as appealing as an AFL career along with the windows it obviously opens up for those that are up for/to it...

I think he has a court appearance coming up relating to the assault charge, so this may be impacting on him. Remember he's only a kid.

This game reminded me of the West Perth game a few weeks back.
Very slow start, East Perth just took the game to Swans.

In fact, both reserves and league teams seemed to suffer the same fate today.
Slow start and try try try to make up for it the last quarter.

No doubt the team last week well and truly competes against any team.
The team in the first half today unfortunately we have seen far too much of this year.

Will hope the team pulls it together next week.

Well done to East Perth who were the better team on the day. I was actually quite proud of the Swans boys today. They were obviously not at their best, but they fought the game out and made the Royals earn their four points. Unfortunately you cannot concede good teams starts like what we gave to them today.

For whatever reason it took till half way through the second quarter for the boys to actually switch into the game and by that stage East Perth were over 4 goals up. Swans first inside 50 didn't happen until nearly time on in the first quarter and we didnt win a clearance either in that period.

I thought that Swans were actually bullied for much of the day by a team who were a lot bigger and stronger, East Perth almost looked physically like an AFL team ;) Johnson absolutely dominated for most of the day and Lycett and Smith were also prominent. Wulff and Lee absolutely butchered us in the midfield in the first half, so I thought the defence held up pretty well, especially as we lost Simpson so early in the game.

In the 3rd quarter Swans upped the intensity and this was the only time in the game that the Royals looked rattled. How good was that running goal from Charlie Cameron - has that kid got some talent! We were getting our share of clearances and using our pace to advantage. I thought the all in brawl slowed down our momentum. Haven't seen a brawl like that for quite a while at WAFL level so will be interesting to see what comes out of that.

I suspected that the effort of getting back into it would prove too much for Swans in the last quarter, but they had their chances and but for a couple of posters and some poor kicking inside our forward 50, we could have snatched it. Garlett was our only real avenue to goal because Geappan was beaten pointless.

So Swans are back to 5th, a game outside the four and our season is on a knife edge again. We just need to lick our wounds and make sure we win big next week against Peel.

East Perth are emerging as the major threat to Claremont I believe. They have all the elements of a side that should do well in finals. Due to West Perths loss today, they now have 2nd spot in their sights

The Eagles are Claremont's biggest threat mike no doubt ..losing Simpson in the first 2 minutes really hurt us in the end but Johnson, Lee, Smith & Keating were too good for the Eagles!!
What is with our lapses in games like we had in the 1st half today were we allowed the Eagles to kick out to a near 6 goal lead, then we hit the front in the 3rd & then we allow them to kick 3 goals deep into red time!
Sums up our season to date very good & ordinary all in the same game!!

And Why did the leading goalkicker on the ground for the Eagles today boot 6 goals in an orange T-Shirt? and 2 for us? A Claremont v East Perth GF will be heaven for the team in orange! Their bigmen certainly tore us a new one today too! And we assisted with poor disposal and decision making, lots of work to do next 6 weeks..Simmo tearing his calf pretty bad is a massive loss as well
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

It sounds like Swan Districts went into the game without their strongest team on the park? Not having any Wafl broadcast or wafl news on abc radio today is highly disappointing... If anyone from abc reads this, For god sake guys there is life outside of the city limits!!!!
I believe Swans had a slow start. The full time score being only 12 points the difference, but Swan Districts should have won. The black & whites will win next week but then have a bye the week after. Have slipped out of the top 4 but they have one thing in their favour of the second best percentage.
