The stage is set for what promises to be a great day at Bassendean on Sunday. The weather is forecast to be warm but not too hot. I would be disappointed if there isn't at least 7000 there, hopefully more. Some key selection decisions for Swans this week.

1. Is Jesse Glass-McCasker fit enough to play?
2. Will they risk giving Doc the week off to have him rested for the Grand final if we make it?
3. Will Cartwright be unleashed finally?
4. Will Jehb go to Brodie or Erasmus?
5. Is Jesse anywhere near being fit? Would they roll the dice with him?
6. Will Erceg play again this week?
7. Is Edwards OK to come back in?

There's a few, I'm sure there's more. One thing I do hope is that the Swans players don't get sucked in to taking out some form of physical retribution on Brady Grey. They just need to channel that frustration towards the football and realise that it will be their intensity and tackling that will get them ahead on the scoreboard.

Make no mistake Peel will be a far more formidable opponent than they were a few weeks ago and we will have to be at our absolute best to beat them. The crowd will be a great help as long as they don't get too much into the abusing of Peel players which may actually be counter productive.

If we can play 4 quarters of intense football, the reward should be a date with East Perth at Optus next week. How exciting would that be for all WAFL Supporters!
Also it will be Tony Nottes last game at Bassendean so it would be nice for him to finish on a winning note on his home ground

For certain the more senior players will have to steady the ship with some leadership for this bout, if anything let the crowd do the heckling!

Tom will be a welcome inclusion whilst IMO I wouldn’t be surprised to see Erceg play given Peel have a taller forward line this time around.

According to the West, he is playing JK, as well as Taberner and Worner. It is a big task to beat them again, thats why we need as many noisy supporters down there on Sunday to encourage the boys

Biggest game at Bassendean for 14 years and hopefully there is a plethora of Swans fans there to cheer on the boys.

No matter the result the team and club has finally met an aspect of the expectations that the fans have deserved and the club has outlined. From this point on there are new standards and those expectations are now that the club and players deliver the effort and competitiveness on a more consistent basis which will give us a much better chance of sustained success which includes more opportunities at the ultimate glory. Win lose or draw come Sunday afternoon it will be the first time in a long while that supporters can feel satisfaction from a season.

With the clubs strong financial position, it’s long history of development and its close ties with its fan base and community the formula is clear - recruit only good characters who can contribute consistently on field and drive standards. Gone are the days of Crowley, Fisher, Palmer, Simpson, Yarran and co who are looking for a retirement fund or who bring a selfish attitude. One or 2 additions in the next year or 2 should have us well in contention again. After a slow start to the season whatever happens on Saturday I will be proud of the team and club for giving us an enjoyable year where we were rightfully back in the conversation as contenders. My wish is that each and every player and official find 5-10% more to give next season as that is what it will take to be just as competitive.Onto the match….

As stated earlier in conversations, we should expect a far different Peel side than we faced 2 weeks ago and on this occasion we are the hunted. Hopefully we can weather the early storm much like that last encounter and stay in the game early. We have shown if we can stay in games that generally we can get the flow of the game going our way at some point. Selection will be very interesting but I don’t think we will know the actual make up of the team until we see them run out on Saturday afternoon. Am hopeful more than confident that Swans can be competitive and get the win.

Well said Danger, totally agree with you. Regardless of the result I will be very happy with how the team has progressed. We have some quality footballers and people in the squad now, one of whom won the Sandover Medal this week. One small critique of your analysis though. If the team runs out on Saturday afternoon they'll have to wait 24 hours for Peel to rock up 
One thing in our favour is the energy that could be given to the team by a noisy home crowd. Players have often commented that Swans supporters are the loudest most supportive group and it does make a difference. Time for all of us to step up and do our bit!

One thing that may effect the crowd size on Sunday is the Midland train line is not running. Buses will replace the trains with a stop right at the oval if that helps.

I hope Swans can get up on Sunday as well but injuries and suspension means they have some key players out/underdone.

But regardless, the last 2 years has seen team jump into the finals and then make the GF the following year (EF and EP)- if Swans don’t make the GF I think they’ll do the same in 2025.
