Interesting and as MO stated.Lets make the finals first.Have West Perth Tomorrow. And regardless of how well we play on the day.More than likely Wests will be in front at the final siren. With a really tough draw on the horizon

Apologies, 42, if I was more tech-savvy I'd put the article up. Maybe someone else can. In the meantime, to paraphrase, referring to SD having had financial problems in the not too distant past, he said: SD never considered raising the white flag. We turned over every stone to get through under our own merits. You couldn't say the same about WP. A lot of people were bitterly disappointed about how they handled things. Mostly taxpayers and creditors. (That last sentence is from me, not Hodyl.)

Thanks TN for the summary.  I hardly think that the WP players will get any motivation from those comments.  The WP might feel a little aggrieved; though, in my opinion, it would be unjustified.  It was a lot of hard work for us to get back to where we are now.

Talk is cheap, the action on the ground is where it counts and the president will have egg on his face if we get turned over by West Perth on our home ground tomorrow. My guess is that the article  will be pinned up in the opposition changerooms and they will use it to rev up their players. Praise your own club sure but don't publicly dump crap on other clubs. Just unnecessary.

I suppose we will have to agree to disagree mh.  The WP players would know that if they lose on Saturday we will be 8 points ahead of WP.  Additionally, they will also know that potentially they could drop out of the 5 with a Perth win and a WP loss.

All good Swan42. I recall that when Bill Monaghan was coach of West Perth he used to accuse Swans of disrespecting his club and used this view to motivate his players. Valentine may be different in approach and I agree that West Perth already have plenty of motivation to win tomorrow but then again Swans want to erase the memory of that massive choke at Joondalup a month or so back.

Your President Hodyl is not the smartest guy going around. About on the same level as Subi’s Pres, especially after a few bevvies. Embarrassing

Well, Subi's President repeatedly insulted other clubs and it didn't affect Subi. Nor have the WP posters on this site fired up, so maybe 42 is right and it will all be a damp squib.

As for Pickerings reappointment I am a little uncertain about the timing, I think they could have waited another month to see how this season pans out. On the other hand when you look at where the team is now compared to where Swans were just 2 years ago in 2019, at the same time of the season we were 2-6 and on the bottom of the ladder. Now we are 5-3 and 4th and Swans already have more victories this year than they did in the whole of 2019.
The trajectory of this team is definitely upwards and you have to give Pickering a lot of the credit for this progress. The question now is whether he can take them to the next level of consistent finals appearances
