Swans have extended Pickering's contract by two years.  It is an interesting move.

Lucky would be my thoughts, why wouldn’t they wait till we make the finals or not at the end of the season

In my opinion an absolute minimum that Pickering needs to achieve in 2022 and 2023 is that we finish in the top 3 at the end of the qualifying  rounds in both years and make the GF in at least one of those two years.  If those are not achieved then it should be "good bye Pickering".

You definitely couldn’t say the board are a destabilising influence and chop and change their coach too often.
It will be a total of two coaches from 2011-2023.

Your President really stuck it to WP in today's West. Trying to create some tension for the game, maybe? Or just telling the truth.

Another couple of years based on wins against the bottom 4 we compete with and a few promising signs against the usual suspects up top - no offence to the coach as I’m still on the fence but just a little surprised we’ve gone a little earlier than necessary. 2nd half of this season will likely tell more than the first half about where we are at. Fingers crossed it’s positive

Interesting in what way? Yes it is of interest, hence it being reported.

Other ‘interesting’ aspects?

Interesting because there seems to be no need to extend it, it's not as if there are other clubs lining up to poach him if his contract isn't renewed.
Anyway, the board reckons he's doing well so it's their call

I used the term "interesting" advisedly.  I wanted a neutral word to gauge how other Swans's supporters thought about the extension.

Just a dumb thing to say really on the eve of an important game. Why give the opposition more ammunition, we have hardly got a great record against West Perth

Can someone please provide a summary of what Hodyl said?   With that disclaimer of not having read the comments I am not sure that it would be much incentive for the West Perth players given the import of the game and the ramifications for both teams.  Was it perhaps more of a marketing move to increase the attendance?
