Maby Rick is the best to answer this question.Just wondering who is Swans historical bogey team, since 1934.
A rough guess saids East Fremantle
East Perth or West Perth.I was told Swans didn't beat West Perth at Leederville for over 25 years. This century it's defently Subiaco.
Keith Slater when at Swans was alleged to never have won a game against East Freo at East Freo.  Our record at Leederville against West Perth was horrific.  Excluding Peel who don't count, Swans had a winning record against only one club, Subiaco, prior to Subi's dominance of the last decade and a half.

They were more than very good Swans teams 1961-1963.  Of course they were very good East Freo teams as runners-up in !962, 63 and 64 before they beat us in 1965.  In 1965 Slater had moved to Subi to coach them.

The teams we have the worst winning records against are West Perth, Claremont, East Perth and East Fremantle, winning percentages are between 36 and 38% for all these teams. The others are in the 40s apart from Peel and West Coast. The closest figure to parity amongst the traditional WAFL teams is Perth, against them we have won 45%. Of the current venues, Leederville is the worst winning percentage ( 26.1) followed by Claremont (29.82), Joondalup ( 31.4), Fremantle ( 33.6), East Fremantle (34.1), whilst Swans have a better record at Lathlain Park ( 50%) and Rushton Park ( 67) than at Bassendean (47)
Thanks for the stats Ric.

What an abysmal last quarter that was, Swans just stepped aside and allowed West Perth to take the game. How do you cough up a 5 goal lead in the 3rd quarter in Tony Nottes 250th? Unbelievable really. Credit to West Perth who just kept plugging away when they were having some real issues in the first half. It eventually came good for them and they rolled all over us in the final term. Riddoch didn't do much but his 3 goals absolutely killed us.

The only 3 players who stood out for the whole game were Anderson, Cipro and Gault. Whoever was on Fisher did a great shut down job on him and we just had too many passengers on the day. If anyone can tell me how the coaching staff rate Sideris as a league standard player can you please let me know the reasons? He is too small, is pushed aside too easily and his disposals put his teammates under pressure.

Today just reiterates that even though Swans have improved we still have a long way to go. We are 6th on the ladder and all the teams we have beaten are below us.
Spackman was our only 4 qtr performer/winner imho Mike.
He held the dangerous Knott goalless yesterday.

Cipro would have been as well but for some unknown reason our coaching staff didnt have him in the all important centre square for bouncedowns (where he is our best clearance midfielder) in the last qtr and had him in the forward 50 instead   whilst Nelson, Black, West etc won centre clearance after centre clearance in the last qtr!!

Fair point BH, I overlooked Spackman, he certainly frustrated the life out of Knott to the extent that when he did get the ball, he was trying impossible shots from the boundary.
I was interested how Rudy Riddoch would go given that he was out last year due to his incarceration.
He is such an burst player in that he has long periods where he fades out of the game but his impact can be dramatic as he demonstrated on Saturday. It was his running goal in the 3rd quarter that sparked the West Perth revival and his other 2 majors came at critical times in the match. It was also his physical presence that had the Swans defenders looking over their shoulders.
In general West Perth muscled Swans out of the contests when they got on top and against Subiaco we need to think about introducing another big man to assist with the ruck work so that Gault can do more around the ground and release Noble to play in the forward line. This will give Swans a bit more physical presence around the ground. I am also hoping that Turner, Riggio and Jetta will all be back in a fortnight. Against Subiaco we will need all the "A" graders we can get

I only arrived just before the start of the league game Swan 42 so I can't help you there. Maybe BH or Success Hill would be able to comment. Warwick is certainly in Swans best 22 if fully fit and I read somewhere that fitness may be the issue preventing him from getting in the league team at the moment. I would expect to see him selected in the not too distant future because he has excellent kicking skills.

Slater moved to Subi in 1964 - the year Swans won their first game at East Fremantle
