According to the injury update on the WAFL site Costigan is going to miss at least half of the season with the shoulder injury he received in the opening minutes last week, it didnt look good at the time.
I reckon we went in with one too many talls last week against a fast running side like Claremont and then losing another runner early in the contest essentially left us 2 short in that area for virtually the whole game.

BH I think if you look again that WAFL injury page is 12 months old.
Bad news for you guys there are only 2 missing from last week's side.
Just McInnes and Smith missing from last week.

An outstanding performance  by the players tonight. After an even first quarter they dominated the game from then on. Another 3 Sandover votes for Sam Fisher without any doubt but he had a lot of mates tonight.  Our ability to keep the ball moving and players working hard to get to contests completely caught Perth on the back foot. Swans defensive play was almost faultless with Howard Jones and Erceg taking numerous marks by positioning themselves well. Our forward line was open and we looked like scoring every time we went forward. Riggers and Palmer worked well together and young Edwards again showed promise even though some of his kicking was a bit wayward.  We got so much clean ball from centre bounces it looked like a training session at times. Cipro, Anderson, Clarke, Waite and Turner pretty much did as they liked all night.
I was surprised how little resistance Perth put up, given that they were at home and they had won the first game. Swans seemed to have an extra player at every contest and managed put Perth under pressure any time that they had the ball. Swans seemed too quick and whenever Perth managed to get the ball into their forward 50 it was usually a haphazard kick which was easy pickings for the Swans defenders.
The only disappointing aspect of the night was the injury to Lewis Jetta. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be as serious as it looked.
Great night to get our first win. The lack of a proper scoreboard at a WAFL ground is a disgrace. Surely the Eagles could pay for an electronic one, even if it was only a temporary job. Not good enough.

What impressed me was the contribution of the group of younger players with who had until last night only shown their talent sporadically. Clarke 28 touches (14 marks!!), Waite 29, and Beck 21 were outstanding, while the two 'bricks' in defence - Erceg and Jones  (Jones until injured) - were impassible. Great seeing the WAFL website naming Erceg second best for Swans. And what of Jones?  We lose a quality CHB in Grainger-Barras - and replace him with a quality CHB who arrives unheralded - what are the chances. His injury looked bad but he ran it off, they stuck him in the forward line more because the kid wanted to go back on, and still provided a target. Outstanding game, as was Noble's as second ruck, whose high leap - compared to Gault's bullocking style - had the Perth ruckman off balance all night. Still rather see him as a forward though...

Turner's game was strange. Possession numbers look good, but I thought he fumbled and kicked poorly. He started getting frustrated, giving away a few undisciplined free-kicks, but the good thing is that he still got the football.

That was definitely Clarkes best game for Swans so far. Waite was very good and he showed why Pickering lured him over from East Perth. The other ex Royal, Tahir Bayok also did some clever things and will be valuable this year. Hopefully Jones injury is not too bad as it appears we may also lose Jetta for a while.
The WAFL match summary on the website said there were no reports out of the game which surprises me as it got quite spiteful at times

Might have to give Jess a leave pass for this one being its was his birthday yesterday - no such graces on offer next week

It was also very pleasing that Swans had 29 scoring shots last night and just fell short of 100 points. They have now scored 32 goals in the first 2 games and they are so much more entertaining to watch than in the last 3 or 4 years when they were struggling to score more than 7 or 8 goals per game.

Far be it from me to defend the Eagles mikeh but the electronic scoreboard was working for the first game, the future match.  It died before the colts' game and was out of action for reserves and league game.

Very good win, midfield dominated and backline very strong.
Usual suspects in Fisher and Anderson took charge with Gault.
Clarke hopefully finally matching his talent with work ethic, kicking is a weapon.
Riggs enjoying not having to do all the hard work in the packs and Palmer and Edwards look threatening up forward.
Jesse Turner lucky Perth bloke didn’t get hurt when he took him out, brain explosion from a normally fair player.
The way Tony Notte throws himself into marking contests is remarkable, he and Riggio great leaders for the club
