Now the dust has well and truly settled on our first up loss at home to Claremont it is time to focus on our next opponent in Perth this Saturday night at Lathlain.
Its always a tough battle between our Eastern Suburb rivals and expect this to be more of the same this week, hopefully played in the game style of all Round 1 matches.
For us Costigan who was a very early casualty on Saturday will be a certain out, not sure who else pulled up sore after the game played in stifling conditions?
Whilst a number of boys in our Ressies sides win have put their hands up for League promotion.

I hope Germs gets a run this week. I thought he did enough in the seconds to gain a place, but his elevation releases Noble for the forward line where he plays his best football.

Swans need to be able to sustain their best footy for longer periods of time to be able to challenge a team like Perth who are finals contenders. At our best we can match it with anyone but as we saw last week our guys fade out of the game for 15 - 20 minutes and lose any advantage they may have gained.

Against Claremont I reckon we lost the game in the time on period of the 2nd quarter ( between the 20 minute mark and the 36 minute mark!). Going into time on we were nearly 2 goals up. Then Claremont took complete control and by half time Swans were 4 goals behind. It was catch up footy from then on.

I would like to see Germs get a go as well. Then as SH said, there is more flexibility with Noble and Gault who can both take strong marks and kick goals. I'm not sure how fit Lewis Jetta is but I would like to see him more involved either in the midfield or as a sweeper across half back to use his elite skills. I think he is a bit wasted in the forward line

I've heard that Mcinnes is a definite out and the others are doubtful. Whatever the outcome Perth will be tough to beat at home whoever they put out there. They proved last year that they can cover for player losses and still made the finals. We don't know what their depth is like because their reserves didn't play last week. Swans just need to concentrate on their own game and try and put together 4 quarters of football instead of the 2 and a half they produced last week.

Why would there not be mention of player injuries within the match report from the week 1 fixtures I wonder?
Have re-read and cannot see mention of injuries there.

For anyone interested before the Colts' game there is a "futures" (presumably that means the 16s) game at 9.50 am on Saturday between Perth and Swans at Lathlain Park Oval.

Yes 4 games on this Saturday, fortunately one of them is not a women’s game. They are rammed down our throats everywhere else.
