Costigan's mark was a beauty BH.

No real wind advantage Mike - light easterly that didn't influence the match. Swans' final quarter was a combination of South tiring and Swans' persistence. I thought the third quarter the best that wasn't reflected on the scoreboard, but in the last the score ticked over. However, we lack a forward, as usual we started slowly, and we have to make tackles stick.

Gault and Germs combined well in the ruck - I thought the former beat Higgins, while the later held his own which is a credit to the young Bunbury lad.

A few blokes were quiet - Turner flashed in and out, while Fisher's disposal was excellent for so early in the season. Jetta appeared to play off the half back flank, and while he didn't have many touches, what he did with the football was outstanding.

SF 7.13 to SD 8.3, after SD were 26 down at 3/4.

I wasn't at the game and there appears to be a problem reading private messages on this site so I haven't read BH's message.  Just looking at the scoring shots for Souths and us it is extremely disappointing and seems to indicate that we still haven't redressed our lack of scoring

Watched most of the game, South’s very good, so many big strong blokes and well drilled machine.Suban and Main thrashed us in the middle
Parker if he stays fit will be hard to stop in their forward line.
For swans they played around 27/28 players and plenty only played a half like Fisher, Turner,Jetta and Gault. Anderson and Cipro didn’t play and Wilson maybe reserves ?
Was only in the last quarter we played quick direct footy and Edwards, Farrant and Costigan looked dangerous.
Apart from that it was the slow short kicking rubbish that got us into trouble last year, Jetta does look to go long though.
Germs will play some games as 2nd ruck, Spackman solid. Collins who trained at WC is quick and battled hard on their tall forwards. Clarke very good in 2nd half
Of the recruits Palmer a little bit quiet but got into the game in the last and Jones looks solid as a defender.
we are going to struggle to score unless Notte plays forward to give us a target as Farrant and Edwards too small against big backlines

Apologies 42 & Grump, I did send you both in PM a rundown of the weekends practice game vs SF but it would seem that function is currently having some issues on here?
Essentially MO & SH have posted similar to what I had in that our first 3 quarters were a little scratchy ball use wise, ball handling and decision making in looking too often for short options to keep a hold of the footy but would fumble then turn it over with SF's pressure pretty good for a scratchie and they have some big bodied boys who thrive on the smaller Fremantle ground.
We looked by far our best when we finally went long, fast and direct in the last qtr and had the SF defence at sixes and sevens and somewhat shaky or at least under more pressure.
Not many of our senior players in the League game played more than 2 qtrs and the likes of Anderson, Cipro, Ireland, Wilson etc didnt play at all on the day whilst SF looked close to full strength although Schloithe & McCarthy were 2 I noticed not on the field possibly other as well but not sure?

No problems BH.  I look forward to reading it when we get the PM function back.

Great story in todays worst abt a Swans player, Yukich, the picture reminds me of the SA player who was a full forward who was quite dominate back in the day.

Despite my best intentions I wasnt able to make the practice match at Bassendean yesterday. Looks like it was a pretty competitive hitout. I notice that Jesse Palmer kicked 3 goals for Swans. Would appreciate any thoughts and observations from Swans supporters who were at the game.

Grenville Dietrich would be who you are thinking of.

Reading the so called article in the paper today I initially thought WCE had had a big win with Brander starring. Reading on I eventually realised Swans had actually won the game. Surely this won’t be the standard of reporting for the Fremantle and WCE WAFL games this season.
