After a rather lengthy hiatus from Ozfooty and the footy for that matter, whilst I poured my energies into other facets of life away from my first love being wafl footy, gotta admit I got the bug again and am frothing big time for season 2021. With the recent birth of my first kid , COVID permitting , I’m really itching to get back down to the home of footy to catch some live action and introduce my son to the best game in the world.
Being completely out of the loop these days was hoping you kind lot could bring me up to date with what to expect on-field in 2021. For reasons unbeknown, I got this lovely gut feel about the upcoming season. Love to see a few step up and tear it apart like Broady did that year he got drafted at season’s end. Who can I look forward to having break out seasons in 2021? Where’s this sweet vibe coming from? Perhaps you lads can enlighten me with some detail and bring me up to speed 👍

Welcome back DW and congratulations mate.

It is pretty hard to line up 2021 to be honest.
Last year just put a line through the whole season as it really didnt exist imho (8 games H&A laughable and then one team playing the whole Finals series including GF at home).
The last real proper season was 2019 and we were pretty average to be honest but we have picked up some pretty decent players since including Fisher & Anderson whilst looking forward to seeing how new faces L.Jetta, Palmer & Jones go.
We have lost Hampson to retirement & also Payne but finding a replacement for Grainger-Barrass will prove difficult as he was a class act even though he was only 17-18yo when he played League footy for us, Trew also got drafted to WCE but didnt play League footy for us.
Hopefully some of the young blokes who have had a taste of League in the last couple of years and also our 2020 Colts group coming through step up to make their mark in senior footy in 2021.

Thx BH.... we found anyone who can kick goals up front yet? How’s the process of young Farrant been?

It is time for all of our young blokes who have had a taste of senior WAFL footy and those wanting to make their mark to step up to the plate now.
Goalkicking and specialist forwards in general is one area I would like to see the club coaches put more time and development in.
We have been one of the lowest scoring teams in the WAFL for far too long now!

Hey DW...welcome back and congrats on your new son. Hopefully mum and bub are doing well. My take on season 2021 is that it's going to be the most competitive and even season for years. Subi has dropped back and others including SD have stepped up. Pretty much all clubs now have a solid financial base for the time being anyway which I think is important for on-field success so there's a lot to like about the WAFL at the moment....bring it on I say. :-)

Thx BC- looking forward to this one after missing out on my footy fix over the past few.

Scary prospect is I’m currently residing in Subi zone- god forbid the young fella sees the world in maroon and gold :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Congrats on the new addition DW...Great to see you back not only on the SD thread but Oz Footy as a whole...think BH is sitting circumspect there mate....just wait till you read new SD Oz Footy punter in Marley....full of beans that boy is for his beloved Black n Whites...and why not, they finished last year much better then in 2019...yeah Hampson is a loss but another few ES recruits to go with the 3 from last year should see SD right up there during 2021...as BC says, it should be a much more even comp this year...as for your little un running out in the maroon and gold....could be worse mate he could be wearing the blue n white and lost in a 20+ year drought...won't even go there in regards to the red n black colours..

Cheers Freeze....gotta say I’m looking forward to attending footy without the fog of knowing what’s going on in the background of the club. Simply watch, barrack and enjoy the game from the outer for the simple love of the game....as for Marley whatever he is taking I want some of those beans. Optimism is a wonderful thing!

Surely it’s time for your beloved Sharks to get their shit together. Too much positive history at that club and the comp is always better when the sharks are up and about. I wouldn’t even begrudge the kid if he chose to support the sharks or any other traditional wafl team for that matter , well anyone but the maroon and gold or tigers - I hate cats in any shape or form :P

If 2020 was a year you can put a line through and pretend it didn't exist then you can't really count Grainger-Barrass as a loss then can you BH? I mean he didn't play for you in 2019.

Yeh welcome back DW, good to see one of those dirty weekender's finally paid off lol. Congrats on the addition to the family tree. I remember when my son was old enough to walk and kick a footy I dragged my arse back to the WAFL after a long hiatus away. He's 25 now and working up in the Pilbara but he still remembers that weekend up in Cunderdin when we had a rare win over Subiaco and a young up and coming Michael Johnson starred in that match and went on to carve out a great AFL career with Fremantle. I asked him to sign my son's football after the game. You too will have great memories your son will cherish bringing your boy to the WAFL.
Get on your bike.
