Some re-turfing was done during the off-season but nothing major, a new irrigation system was installed though along with the oval being cored to help drainage and better coverage.

DD resurfacing the oval during construction of the new facility wasn't an option as a significant section of the oval was used during the building phase and funds weren't available. Not all of us have an AFL club funding our oval lighting and paying for our oval to be resurfaced and maintained but then we can use the oval when we like and as often as we want.

Those massive trees on the northern end of MRP cast as much as a shadow as the apartments do at Claremont Oval

Can I suggest a new prescription for glasses to help your last point?

Once all the apartments are completed, the club will have the opportunity to assess what needs to be done to improve the surface. There's lots of good options available which have been mentioned.

Missed this game because I have been holidaying in the beautiful Kimberley region. Sounds like the match went pretty much as expected. Swans gave a yelp for a quarter and a half and were then overwhelmed. The most telling comment I read was from Success Hill who reported on the discussion in the Claremont huddle about pressing up on Swans and taking advantage of their poor skills to create turnovers which seems to be exactly what happened. It is most frustrating when it seems to be common knowledge that Swans are below the skill level required to be competitive in the WAFL and this is exploited on a weekly basis. Same thing happened in the last quarter of the West Perth game which they should have won.
Nothing wrong with the effort or talent in the group. It is the crap game plan and the poor skills which are the problem. That comes back to how the team are being coached.

I'm sure many people will be caught out by this as the club's promotional poster doesn't really highlight the time change. Maybe tell the Subiaco players that the game is still starting at 2.15 and Swans can start at 12.40?. Might have a chance then.

Ssshhhh Mike the Subi players might read this.....the game is still going ahead at 2.30 Subi boys! ;)
