It'll be no different to playing at a small stadium once it's all completed.

Every ground has its nuances, understanding them is what gives you home ground advantage.

Funny how that dumb idea sees us with a new facility, no debt, a significant bank balance and a consistent non-football related future income stream.

Me thinks the colour you're looking for TT is green! Sad really when you think every club is looking for financial security. Mr Marshall has done a good job!

Good point. The ever changing landscape at Claremont is producing conditions that even Claremont players are unused to let alone visiting teams. The funnel of wind coming between the incomplete and finished flats at the NW corner of the ground caught a few out.

Well take note EF, Swans and any other club considering a ground redevelopment. Keep property developers out of it and don’t be dumb enough to allow your ground to be surrounded by apartments. Just a dumb idea in the western suburbs where all the brains are supposed to be. :silly:

That is what kileed off the project at Swans.
Developers looking for a return on their $$ couldn't get it to work with land values at $220 per Sqm compared to 3 times that value elsewhere.

No one is questioning the income stream from having a public gymnasium and cafe , kudos for that but as you admit yourself your playing surface is a problem due to :

1. Your club chose not to rip it up and replace it while you had the opportunity while playing away at the Showgrounds for two years.
2. It is surrounded by multi storey apartments closely aligned with the boundary line blocking out a significant amount of valuable sunlight .

And last year when we played there I found it a cold place and the ball and goal posts got lost in the background, especially the goal posts, white against the predominantly white apartments. These significant problems are permanent.
Get on your bike.

Apparently according to a Tigers supporter I was chatting to at the game Claremont Oval was resurfaced over the summer as well but you wouldnt have known it even with little footy played so far this year as it looked like a patchwork quilt and still had the issue at the northern end of being soft under foot with no sunlight for large portions of the day as it is shaded by the apartments.
This is going to be an ongoing issue unless they look at the artificial type surfaces used by clubs in Europe or that used at Perth Stadium/McGillvray Oval where it is a combo of half artificial, half natural grass?

A quick look at what the tin tanks use and it is one of three options a plastic/sand-mesh with bermuda sown into it, just a straight synthetic one or plain grass/turf.

It depends on the wear and tear and other environmental factors but the players prefer grass/turf.

So...why didn't they have the women's game as the Curtain raiser and start the men's game at the usual time? I'm sure many people will be caught out by this as the club's promotional poster doesn't really highlight the time change. Maybe tell the Subiaco players that the game is still starting at 2.15 and Swans can start at 12.40?. Might have a chance then.
