A 10k venue would only be suitable for Subiaco and Peelmantle GF as they both have virtually no supporters!

BH what WAFL games to be played at the WACA would justify spending millions MORE at the WACA?

Wells didn't last long BH. Time for some generational change to this batting order. The problem is that the next shield game is not till February.

I am not talking about football at all in regards to the WACA 42 you are.
I am talking about an upgraded venue for state cricket, new indoor nets facility, CoE HQ etc much like has happened in VIC (Junction Oval), QLD (Allan Border Field) & NSW (soon to be redeveloped ground in GWS) with Govt funding.
Interestingly too the WACA is the only one of these venues that will still hold Test Matches/International Cricket games as well.
Let us also not forget the Federal Govt contributed $0 to our new World Class Perth Stadium build im not sure the same can be said of the other States recent rebuilt or new Stadia?!

Bullshit....early on we might have been with the ressies and start of the colts as it would have been a very long day for some Subi supporters to be there for all three but certainly in the league there were good numbers in maroon and gold.

Its a very unbalanced WA side right now.

There are two makeshift openers at the top of the order, all rounders batting 3 - 7 and not playing a spinner in 4 day cricket shows how out of touch the selectors and decision makers are in WA cricket.

Its a good balanced side for T20 cricket, but when you have to work to score runs or take wickets its a shit side that will finish right down the bottom of the ladder.

Bullshit alright BC...I was there from the gates opening for the start of the Reserves at 8.30am right thru to the end of the kick to kick on the oval at 6.30pm that night (in which there were probably nearly 10k turned up just for that alone) and you were hopelessly outnumbered for support in all 3 games!

BH perhaps you can start a new topic in the appropriate section to have a discussion about Federal funding support for WA infrastructure.

With respect to this particular topic WA's performances from the period when "Bill and Ben" were selected as captain and vice-captain of the WA Shield team instead of Tom Moody is where I believe things started going awry for WA. There appears to be very little significance placed on WA winning the Sheffield Shield.

In your opinion but then it's great to see everything through black and white....also, if we were outnumbered it's not unexpected as no doubt there were EP and SD supporters hanging around for the main game and the kick to kick opportunity as you point out afterwards. Throw them in with the WP faithful and it's not surprising we would seem to be outnumbered....but hey...you hang your hat on whatever you like to make yourself feel better...we won 3 flags that day regardless of how many of us were there.

42 I assume "Bill and Ben" as you so eloquently call them are Martyn & Langer?
I believe that was in around 1993/1994 from memory around the time Chris Smith was CEO?
I think we won the Sheffield Shield twice and were Runner Up twice in the late 1990s under Captain Moody & Coach Clark and we did quite well in the 50 over game in the same period so maybe it was after the likes of Moody & Clark moved on and incumbent Katich and others moved state under a certain other CEO were for mine where it all went pear shaped for WA Cricket!

The "Bill and Ben" captaincy decision was a marketing decision not a cricket decision.
