Every coach has a use by date Freezin, as Mick Malthouse found out a few weeks ago. Ultimately as a coach you will be judged on your win/loss ratio but by renewing his contract the board have obviously expressed their confidence in how he is going about things. From my limited observation of him he does seem to have a good manner with the players which could have been what was lacking in Malaxos perhaps.

I am no fan of Harding as a senior coach, excellent development coach but one thing if we did flick him then there are limited options out there for coaches who want to come to a club where you can't buy players.
He is also a full-time employee of the club so most of his duties are in development and working on the pathways for our kids coming thru.
As watters and schofield have shown, anyone can coach a club with money - all the other clubs have to make do with limited dollars and resources

Spot on Mark... This was contained in a letter from Our President last week to all members and confirms your post from a WPFC perspective but it would apply to the majority of G7 WAFL clubs wit the exception of $ubiaco

To quote our president you have to watch your bottom line and with the budget the other clubs have it must be kept down when considering players recruited So the other G7 clubs who are struggling to maintain a profit or the bottom line dont have as many options.

To quote From our president in his letter to members last week

While our membership and sponsorship remain strong and tracking ahead of where we were last year, our Club continues to work under significant financial constraints due to our current leasing arrangement with Venues West. Our ability to generate income is vastly different to every other WAFL Club which is why club functions are so critical to our financial viability and determine to a large degree, our on-field competitiveness and success.

Members often talk to me about recruitment. First and foremost we can only recruit if we can finance it. When allocating funds to our football budget we also have to consider other areas of our football department that are viewed as critical to improving our on field performance.

Anyway... back to the game. Some intriguing duels around the ground starting with Rob Young vs Nathan Blakely in the ruck, Mcgough, the O'Briens and Anthony vs Elari, Riggio and Faulkner. Swans have a good mix of talls and smalls in the forward line that will test the Sharks defence. Geappan seems to always play well against East Fremantle. Hampson will be a loss for EF as he gave us the run around last time, but the Sharks still have enough potency up forward to keep SD's defence on their toes. Like many games it will come down to the mindset of both teams on the day

apparently with Malaxos gone, EF mindset will be one of a happier one now mikeh :P .....

SD defence will definitely make things tough for EF forwards especially with Hamspon out..Ellis or Lester-Smith to CHF, Bristow or Young to FF......though not convinced they will kick enough goals TBH........whilst with no Stephen and Read up back, SD forwards will stretch EF defence...., Chartres to Cary, Jupp to Geappen ..... then there is Davis with no Read or Stephen to fall back onto.....think Dorotich will struggle with any of those three SD forwards .....can't see how SD won't kick a winning score TBH.......that's why I have picked them and if they don't win v EF, then they are useless(like EF were not winning the derby) and SD season is well n truly farked!

Good match up post Freezin. Great input. Geappen will have to be watched as I find him a Big part of SD and a player who can lift SD and win them games

As you say SD have a lot to play for but the same goes for EF.
Should be a ripper of a game but looking at SD performance against EP last week where they stayed with EP with a A side and except for maybe Darling kicking those 5 goals would of most probably won it.

Will this be a case of egg on the face? Can understand the club and Malaxos parting ways but it does add extra pressure to get a result this week. A lot of history shows change the coach and get that desired win the next week. Not to sure the script will go the Sharks way and I could be wrong but I am tipping Swans to spoil the party!

How could one do a match preview without mentioning a sandover medalist, an Anzac Day medalist and a 2015 state on-baller.
East freo have the 3 best mids in the game and if they dominate they will have a massive impact on the result.
Think all 3 might be rather happy with the change of coach being senior players and a big part of the dumping of Malaxos

You swans supporters have shocking memories - you had money, bought players and then went broke. Now you develop your local kids ??? Please give me strength.
I know subi have coin & buy players. It's up to the wafl to keep subi in line.
