We’ve discussed this over on the Subi thread about how wrong this situation is where 2nd tier clubs can lose a player a couple of weeks before round one. East Freo could lose their number one ruckman for the season but won’t know whether they will until February probably, Subi could lose a forward which fortunately for them isn’t as big a deal when it comes down to strategies and replacement and game plans, and Claremont lost our full forward at the last minute. It’s just so typical of the AFL this attitude, it’s not needed, but they don’t give a stuff because it gives them a few more pages of media attention for a couple of days.

It’s official, Brad Sheppard retires immediately.  Good news for he and his family healthwise, but bad news for EF.

I caught the AGM last night.

A pretty casual affair. 5 new life members and a new board member.

Bill Monaghan spoke a bit about recruiting and the waiting game on some current players likely to train at AFL clubs (like Strnadica is). He mentioned Browne, Joyce and Dixon. Contingency in place but a little handcuffed until known what is needed. Mentioned another experience player form another WAFL club and Cale Hooker as potential ins.

Well with 2 spots now up for grabs at West Coast we most likely will lose Strnadica. If he does join West Coast, can he still play for us if he is not selected in their AFL side? Regarding Hugh Dixon who is he training with if not us?

I think Bill said he was going to train with a club in January- I think it was St Kilda

Geez losing Dixon and Strnadica last minute will especially hurt.....losing one maybe ...but losing two will make it very hard.....Hooker as an in will add experience and height.....as for the other experienced WAFL club in....surely if you are gonna move clubs, it will be sooner rather then later.....

That relates to WAFL players taken for their reserves 58, not potential additions to their league squad.

Well, whoever worded that rule should be out selling cars, they’d make a fortune.
