I watched the game on tv and without seeing the free kick stats it certainly seemed like Perth got the better end of the deal from the umpires. I'm not saying it cost EP the game but it could have looked a bit different if they were consistent across the board.

BC, you were probably right, can’t blame the Umps, but they were well below the standard required for any level of WAFL footy

Yep sounds all too familiar.
We wouldnt have beaten Claremont yesterday but our cause was not helped by some curiously inconsistent interpretations of holding the ball, not too mention deliberate out of bounds.
A SD player would grab the ball is tackled immediately and holding the ball is paid, whilst certain CL midfield players would grab the footy, then take on the tackler, be spun around 360 degrees in the tackle, then dispose of it incorrectly and play on is called?!?!
There are certain players within the WAFL who are kissed on the pecker by the maggots and CL have their fair share of them!

perth got most of the dubiuos free kicks.what annoyed me were the amount of deliberate out of bounds kicks with perth players plodding to the boundary line pointing to the umps.the players need to take the blame for the poor first quarter when they gave to much lattitude to the forwards.the players need to learn to be better and execute better next week.

21 to 14 is the difference and it reflected the play but perhaps 21 to 18 or 3 less either way from what is saw!

You guys have got a few lumberjacks. What are you feeding them? Luckily we are a fairly tall side ourselves this year, in previous years you would have slaughtered us in the air. You are going to win a few games I reckon, was the better side after quarter time but we did enough to hold you off. It was a good contest.

Thank you for the comment, both sides should be better this season

I was very impressed with the East Perth supporter numbers. Would have had very nearly as many as Perth. A lot of them seem to dress up in Club garb which is good to. They absolutely took over the outer wing hill. Jones was not rated at all last year so considering that he did a great job for you guys. McGinnity going down may have been the difference.
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

Yes, it was a good-sized crowd at Lathlain on Saturday, TFaF.
I was very surprised (1) that Scott Jones was delisted by Freo and (2) that he wasn't picked up by another AFL club.
He's not just a good ruckman but is also a bloke who can kick goals.
Poor old Pat McGinnity is injury-prone, just like his father Kevin was in the 1970s.
I agree with you that East Perth missed McGinnity up forward because we had no real crumbers around goal when he went off.
Your forwards were dynamite on the lead and when shooting for goal.
A lot's been said about Logan McDonald, but Jack Richardson was pretty handy.
Given he's from Claremont, do you know if he's related to Ian Richardson?

Yes a fair few more than the 2000 approx estimated. I'd say closer to 3000.

Jack Richardson is a son of former SD forward Steve Richardson and nephew of Mike I heard.
