Anyway back on subject, great effort yesterday by 22 committed blokes, nearly half the team did not play in last years GF so a great effort by Wardman and his coaching staff to get such great results with so many of last years ressies and a few colts coming through.
Dela was terrific again knocked up getting disposals, same with Greg Clark who has got better and better as the season has gone on. Max started like a German band had 22 disposal and 3 goals for a great effort, Sok started slowly but made the most of his opportunities for 6 and Borch continues his growth as a qality FF with 4. The entire backline were dominant even without the backline captain Locks not playing.
As some media have said we dont have a fancy flashy game plan but work incredibly hard to make space and gut run to create overlaps and put great pressure on the opposition players always getting numbers to the contest, a testament to the training and fitness regime the club demands of the players. We ran harder and longer than Joondy who had everything to play for and was clearly shown in the last quarter with 6 goals to 1. I would have expected Joondy to go hard in the last after just outscoring us in the 3rd, even if they could not win they failed to protect their percentage which might see them drop out of the finals if results dont go their way.
In saying that I hope Joondy and Perth can get up next week and WCER lose bigtime to ensure it's 5 Wafl teams in the finals.
Absolutely on the money re your comment on half of yesterday's side not playing in last years league GF SS. Throw in Simon Moore and by my rough count that's more than half. We've only recruited Marsh this year so all the others who missed out last year but played yesterday have come up from last year's ressies. To be able to regenerate like that and compete at a similar standard to 2018 is a terrific effort by the coaches and players themselves when you consider the calibre of blokes who've left in Zac Clarke, Phelan, Deluca, and those currently injured such as Halligan, Newton, Powell, Kennedy, Fimmano and so on.
