BC wrote: I just found this in the WAFC Rule and Regs. Apparently WCER can play up to 17 players if their seniors are not involved in finals on the same weekend but they must be qualified, ie. played at least 5 games in the WAFL with 3 of those after 30 June 30. They can also play up to 3 Category B players such as Next Generation as well. If WCE are playing AFL finals on the same weekend then they can play whomever they like in WCER for the WAFL finals.

An AFL Player may play in the WAFL Finals where:
i. his AFL Club is not participating in the AFL Finals match on the same weekend as his WAFL Stand-Alone Club; and
a. the player must have played a minimum of five (5) WAFL League matches; and
b. the player has played three (3) of the clubs last eight (8) WAFL League home and away matches; and
c. the number of qualified AFL players eligible to play does not exceed seventeen (17) AFL players; plus
d. additionally, a maximum of three (3) Category B Rookie players which include NGA players, international players or 3-year non-AFL registered players;
(i) for the avoidance of doubt and in accordance with (d), a maximum of one (1) of the three (3) additional players being a Next Generation Academy (NGA) player;
ii. or where:
a. his AFL Club is still in the AFL Finals and playing on the same weekend then (i) does not apply.

Just asking the question. Is that what the Wafl agreed with?

Yes mate...that's for WCER...here's the rules for Peel. Both are straight out of the WAFL's Rules and Regulations 2019.

An AFL Player may play in the WAFL Finals where:
i. his AFL Club is not participating in the AFL Finals match on the same weekend as his WAFL Partner Club; and
a. the player must have played a minimum of five WAFL League matches; and
b. the player has played three of the clubs last eight WAFL League home and away matches; and
c. the number of qualified AFL players eligible to play does not exceed twelve AFL players.
ii. or where:
a. his AFL Club is still in the AFL Finals and playing on the same weekend then (i) does not apply.

Good to see Justin Joyce return after injury and a stint in the 2s as well as Gus Litherland and Max Walters back...it looks like Clanger has gone though and still no Aaron Heal or Haydn Kennedy missing with a shoulder from last week.

I see from this mornings West that both Kennedy and also Ben Newton (broken hand ) will be out for "an extended period" bugger!!!
Also see that the great Austin Robertson has been working with Ben Sokol on his goalkicking and there has been an inprovement. Also that he offered to help The dockers this season but got no response and was working with Jake Waterman but was only allowed to have 15 kicks in each session?? What happened to the mantra that practice makes perfect and you need at least 10,000 hours of practice over time to perfect a skill ?.

Bingo SS, this is no time for $ubi to drop a game.

Bugger....our injury list just continues to climb. I'd like to know with some accuracy exactly who is out and for how long as that Bupa report on the WAFL website is a piece of crap. Newton has probably been our best player the last couple of weeks and will be missed that's for sure. He must have done it at training because I thought he played out the game against Claremont ok.

Agree BC, Newton has been in his best form since joining us, his strength and lethal left foot have been a real asset. Having Gus and Maxy back in gives us some size and aggression to take on the fulltime pro's, I see Schofield has been dropped to the AFL Eagles to cover for Hurn so thats a positive as I rate him as a quality backman. Sutherland is in the long interchange list. I would like to see him or another young ruckman getting some game time in prior to finals as teams like Cl, SF and Perth all have good tap ruckman and in Higgins SF have the best big man in the comp when he's fit. Great to see Joycey back, quick smart player who has had a good run in the ressies so should be cherry ripe for his league return, can hit the scoreboard as well.

With all those injuries it will definitely tighten up the contest and expect it to be a close one like the last time we played them. Game is on Ch 7 so expect a completely one sided commentary all about reviewing the listed players.

Congrats to our skipper Leigh Kitchin as well on 100 terrific WAFL games this week. He's certainly been resilient as so far he's played 99 out of a possible 100 games since coming across from Frankston. A true club champion. Well done Leigh. Here's the final team list...interesting no Sutherland which means Dela must be going to ruck all day...I'm not sure I'm a big fan of that. A couple of newbies named on the bench as well.

I would be uncertain if key people at Fremantle would even know whom Austin Robertson is.

BC, I think is a pretty big risk especially with Clang gone, apart from Locks and maybe Clark or Borchet at a pinch he's the only real "Tall" in the team unless one of the newbs is a tall. Dela's super fit and pretty durable but if he went down we would be at the mercy of some of those big WCER. Dela will win maybe a qtr or third of the hit-outs based on the past but he will dominate around the ground, If they were to target Dela, we have no real back-up. I'd have Tim in to add some bulk and strength at the contests and give our mids some protection. Horse has been in good but not stellar form recently, with Newton out I expect to see him step up a couple of gears. Congrats to Kitch on his 100th Subi game, been one of the best interstate recruits we've had since the German/Waters era and he's young enough to add another 50+ games to get his life membership if he stays as injury free as he has in the past.

Ark, there's been at times some baffling dare I say disrespectful treatment of the great man, you only have to look at the decision to name the WAFL leading goal kickers medal after the bloke who has the secong best record in WAFL history. no disrespect to Bernie, he also was an absolute champ, but it didn't make sense at the time and still doesn't to this day.
