Yes AR, Perth has it's Centurions' Fund set up by Brian Lawrence which has grown from humble beginnings to a healthy size but certainly NOT the $1m plus suggested by BC.
It is tightly governed by a Trust Deed and cannot just be splashed around.

Ok I might be a bit out there on this but first things first - argue about Subi all you like but I kinda like that there is a traditional club powerful enough to put it to the AFL reserves sides. But Subi has to do their bit and actually beat them when it counts rather than what they have been doing last couple of years which have been wasted.

Once they break the back of the AFL reserves sides then let's take another look at them. Imagine how porr it would be without Subi with no-one to take it up to Peelmantle.

Sorry if I got it wrong smokey but that's what I read on here a few months ago from memory when one of your guys was talking about recruiting. I'll try and find the post but I guess you're in a better position than me to know what the actual number looks like.

stt it is more than a little rich for Subiaco to complain about the advantage Peel has over Subiaco when that club has done everything in its power to have an unfair advantage over the G6 WAFL clubs. Subiaco's sole motivation is to neuter Peel so they can win EACH and EVERY WAFL GF until the expiration of the WAFL.

I know that some of my fellow PFC tragics get it wrong regarding the Centurions' Fund. Not their fault, just wishful thinking and a lack of checking the facts.
Believe me, that fund is very tightly governed under the provisions of the Trust Deed. It's main purpose was to build a growing fund for the future security of the club. It was never intended to be splashed out on "willy nilly" recruiting as some would wish.
I have seen previous posts from those who want it all spent in one go and I have responded to those posts in the same manner as I have today.
PFC have been, perhaps, the most financially responsible club in the WAFL considering it's poor on field record of the past 40 years. Last year, even as wooden spooners we achieved a profit of $75,000 which reflects that responsibility and the hard work put into fundraising and event organising. Our Past Players Assoc. are most notable for a lot of the work that goes on, usually unnoticeable.

smokey -- I agree with all of that. At the time the club was under pressure because it was not winning and had little money. Therefore, it was open to silly ideas, such as, moving and becomming Southern Districts. Mr Lawrence knew, along with many others at the club, that such talk could be quietened if the club could attain financial stability. The club ha done very well in this regard.

Just got to keep it up Ark. Thing is PFC is only ever one bad year financially from problems and if we have financial woes boy have we got woes.

Every Board at the Club has to always embrace the Brian Lawrence spirit and make sure we show a profit.

I went to South Freo High in the 70's and Brian Lawrence was the deputy principal...a cracking bloke and a real straight shooter.
