And even if they did, as you quote can you name another wafl club with 2.4 million in the bank?

East Perth have something similar after posting $500k profits the last 2 years.

Brian Lawrence certainly started the fundraising but the club has been quietly working away since then. From recollection has gone from the 100 lawro got it to to around 400 or so nowadays.

STT: yep, Perth is a well run club. People forget that, even though the Demons finished ninth, the club made money. All goes well, actually, if the club can win on a regualr basis in future years,

In the case of Frank, they did not want to pay the money because, at the time he was playing reserves. One can disagree with that decision, but there was a rationale behind it from the club.

He was good value in 2014 but unfortunately injured early 2015 and never played again so if you take a long term view on it Perth could be comfortable with the decision. Any recruiting is a risk and Perth were probably wary in paying for a player who was playing ressies but Subi saw something and took the risk.

It is interesting to read comments from Subiaco supporters about how they were very magnanimous in providing reserves' players from other clubs an opportunity to play league at Subiaco. Unfortunately, how does that apply to the likes of Twomey and Robbo from Swans that they recruited? How does that apply to their attempts to recruit Ryan Davis from Swans a few years ago?

Perhaps Twomey and Robinson wanted one last crack at winning a flag before retiring.....guess they thought SD weren't in a position to provide that.....seems like both boys were on the money(sic)......LOL......says more of their character than Subi's one would of thought.....esp if they were swayed by the dollars as many SD fans think they were......great to see 2nd tier guys in Menagola, Sokol, Heal etc getting a second chance at showing their wares at league footy.....obviously helps having quality around them though.....

interesting to see Davis stay in Qld after his delisting from GCS.....one would of thought with all that black/white blood flowing through his veins and the continual resistance to Subi monetary overtures that he would of come back to SD.....seems like the money overtures from Southport in the Qld league were too good to ignore.....does that mean Davis is no better than Twomey and Robinson character wise?....and that Southport are no better than Subi then?.....seems like business to me come end of the day.....
