Stand the Test: we should have won last year's grand final; two free kicks in front of goal, one a holding the ball decision, which, on another day might have been let go, the second, in contrast, came from a free kick after we knocked over the ball over the boundary line, gave Peel victory.

Both free-kicks were technically justified and we should have avoided them by playing better. Particularly, in relation to the boundary line free-kick, these days with the way the out-of-bounds rule is interpretted, players have to either thump the ball down field or take possession and try and get a ball up from the tacke.

Yes was at the game and remember both decisions and they are def worth remembering (and complaining about). I'm just saying if you get the chance to knock them out this year please, please do!!!

Stand the Test: We really need the whole competition to lift to keep them out of the finals. The two obvious candidates in this regard are Claremont and East Fremantle.

Agreed Ark. Clarke will definitely give us something if fit. So that makes 3 Clark/Clarke's this season

This article re Yazz on the Perth now site:

FORMER Fremantle forward Shane Yarran is out of prison and on a path to completing a full football circle.

The 28-year-old triple WAFL premiership player has been training with Subiaco since mid-December and hopes to grace the field some time this season.

Yarran played in the Lions’ back to back flags of 2014 and ’15.

The medium-sized forward was selected by the Dockers with pick 61 in the 2015 national draft after kicking 54 majors from 19 games that season to win the Bernie Naylor Medal as the league’s leading goalkicker.

He kicked 10 goals in six games at AFL level in 2016 but after a series of off-field incidents, announced his retirement at the end of that season.

As a listed Docker, he kicked five goals against his old side Subiaco to help Peel claim their first premiership win in 2016.

Yarran was released from prison late last year, serving six months after pleading guilty to charges including reckless driving to escape pursuit and driving without a valid licence. The high speed police chase through Gosnells ended when he jumped out of a moving car.

Subiaco chief executive Peter Capes said this week there was a bigger picture at play than a WAFL comeback. “We are working through a program with the AFL Players’ Association for a rehabilitation plan for him,” Capes said. “One of the things that came out of their discussions was he wanted to be in an environment where he felt welcomed and being part of a group and he nominated Subi footy club to do that.

“We are working through that mainly to assist that. If he plays footy – and if you ask him he wants to play footy – but from our point of view that was never a consideration. We think he’s months off, if at all. The players have a lot of time for Yaz and he shows the respect vice-versa.”

Nice work by the club after Freo and Peel washed their hands of him. Capes confirming that Yazz is a long long way away from making a return to league ranks. I wonder if yazz will be part of the clubs listed players and if so what points would he get?

Cheers BC. Can't see Waters on our list now. That's a shame

Yep...he's shown as in "in" on the player movement list but he's not in the senior squad...so not sure what is happening there. Hopefully it's just an oversight and he's playing this season.

Here's a link to an update on preseason on the clubs website. It looks like Rhys Waters is definitely training which is good news.
