Mate that's how legends are made!
Really solid effort by the boys, disciplined and stuck solid to the team plan. Continue to be impressed by the 2nd tier boys that have come in to fill all the injury gaps to a swag of front liners. Big Dave is developing well and is actually kicking the ball more often, good sign that his confidence is up, his tap work against 2 top shelf ruckman was pretty god but he was harder at the contest and on the ground than both Seaby and Andrews, his tackling is fierce and the way he hit that pack late in the 2nd quarter I think it was, was a highlight, left a heap of blue and gold jumpers spread all over the place searching for their handbags.
Menagola is just a monster at the stoppages, is similar to the new bread of AFL mids, around 185+cm and 90k's with pace and a massive tank, shame he was injured early as that sort of form would have him challenging Tropiano for all the best player gongs. Phelan is a similar size with close to the best kick in the comp but not as physical as Mena and the other mids.
Will be interesting to see if Schoey brings in Boland for the Munchers game, another tall mobile forward would stretch the munchers backline setup and will free up Yazz who I thought had a much better game with 3 goals out of a team total of 10 in difficult conditions, still needs to improve his second and third efforts which is why I think AFL recruiters will pass on him. Young Dec Jackson did a fine job as Rumbas replacement and Lockyer, Hancock Latham and the rest of the backs played terrific team defense to give a skilled Tigers forward line little room to execute, that show pony Richardson was well held but still managed a couple, just a shame such a skilled player has to hold the ball up to show the crowd every time he takes a mark, what a tosser!!
Next week against the munchers at Sth Gero paddock will be a huge test, Joondy are travelling very nicely at the moment and much harder to beat up there. They have super quality in the mids, Keunen is a top shelf ruckman and they have some good talls up forward, so no let up for our guys. The good thing is that competition for spots is enormous as they all want to be in the mix come finals time so no sign of complacency to be seen so far.
