Yes for Swans to have gone this far into the season without an injury is pretty remarkable. I'll be interested to see what they have in the reserves tomorrow.

Well done to swans on a great win tonight - you thoroughly deserved it.

Swans were more desperate/1st to the ball and physical
Much much faster than subi
Moved in numbers and worked for each other and ran harder
Far better disposal & better decision making
Congested subi's forwards
Ran it out of their backline better
Had a more efficient and open forward line

Subi were lucky to be only 2pts down at 3/4 time and Swans played brilliantly in the last to steam-roll Subi and the end margin was a true reflection of the game.

Subi had a poor game as swans applied plenty of pressure and subi couldn't handle it.
Well played swans. Subi with plenty to think about besides playing poorly also injuries and the tribunal will hit them hard. Subi have a lot of work to do to get anywhere close to the level that swans played today. Outplayed in every area of the game - not as good as you thought you were subi ????

COLTS
Swan Districts 14-12 d Subiaco 11-8
Goals: McAlister 3, Vermeersch 3, Adler 2, JJ Woodley, B Waters, Wilkinson 1
Best: Vermeersch, Bryan, Allison-Green, Edwards, T Hooper, A Kennedy, Chapman, Pearce

Sadly, if the boys were honest, they didn't really play well at all. Apart from the second quarter when they showed what can happen when they apply themselves by kicking 7 goals to 1.

They just didn't seem switched on collectively from the first bounce.

Still, credit must go to Swan Districts. They have some very exciting indigenous players who know how to break a game open when the pressure is on. None more so than their hard working little captain Albert Dean, who is a good show for the Jack Clarke Medal I reckon. The X-factor of these players made a big difference.

Nevertheless, even in a loss there are some players who stand out.

Ryan Vermeersch in attack was a great target all game and finished with 23 possessions, 5 marks and 3 goals. It was in the second quarter that he, Rhys McAlister and Jeremy Woodley produced some scintillating football. Abraham Kennedy played the best quarter of his fledgling colts career and showed why he is so highly rated in junior circles.

The other three quarters were a struggle. Chris Bryan tried valiantly to keep the Lions in the game with some very clean decisive football. That lad can play!

Tim Edwards tried hard.

Jay Allison-Green was outstanding in the backline with his cool play under pressure and sound disposal.

In fact, it was the defenders that had it all to do in the second half as the ball was in their area constantly and during that time Tom Hooper, Brennan Pearce, Allison-Green and Corey Buscall did as well as they could to repel the numerous Swan attacks.

16 year old 198cm debutant Josh Chapman, a member of the WA 16's Academy in 2013, showed he has a big future in colts football with a promising display.

Rhys Holdman (Newtown-Condingup), Brad Waters (Sorrento-Duncraig), Nathan Adler (Whitfords) also played their first games and were more than solid.

But overall it was a disappointing team effort, albeit with players out. But Swans had players out also and wanted the win more than we did.

RESERVES
Subiaco 16-16 d Swan Districts 11-2
Goals: Clarke 3, Garvey 2, Fetherstonhaugh 2, Boyle 2, Wade, Halligan, Wrigley, Bradley, Moore, Hoskins, Scafidi 1
Best: Moore, Heal, Scafidi, Bradley, Hoskins, Garvey, Fetherstonhaugh, Hughes, Bogensperger, Norriss

A win on an otherwise bleak day for the club but even this came at a price.

Ruckmen David Madut and Andrew McDougall both left the field with injuries very early in the game and were unable to take any further part in proceedings. McDougall was on the verge of league selection of course while Madut has quietly but most definitely developed into a very powerful reserves ruckman in his own right and was pushing for a place in the main side. How long both players are out for I don't know but it's a bitter blow either way and very frustrating to see yet another of our young guns cop an injury at an important time of their career. It's happened at lot of the last 3 years - more than I remember previously from watching years and years of colts/reserves football.

All that aside, with both ruckmen out and Jordan Bestry unable to take his place in the starting line-up also, we were without any genuine big men at all for the bulk of the game.

Sean Bradley did a sterling job filling the void against the odds and was able to give Subi a chance to compete.

Simon Moore really ran hard all game and was rewarded with 32 disposals in a lively display.

Once again Aaron Heal did a fantastic job down back, this time on the stocky and extremely dangerous Rodney Jetta who has been in good goal kicking form in the reserves. Not only was Heal able to keep Jetta to just six possessions and 2 goals but he provided invaluable rebound out of the last line.

Joe Scafidi - once again - fantastic, not just in the midfield but also up forward where he used his big frame and excellent judgement to clutch some strong marks.

Craig Hoskins, a former colts B&F winner, made his comeback from injury....well injury after injury really....and accumulated 23 possessions. He's had rotten luck with injuries since his last colts year in 2011. Hopefully things go his way from here on.

Tim Garvey had a very good debut out of the amateurs, James Hughes was gutsy in defence and Bill Fetherstonhaugh (22 touches) and Matt Bogensperger (27) were good contributors as always in the midfield.

Possibly Swandog but luck does play a big part on the injury front and that doesn't matter what planning/resources you have at your disposal (just look at the AuFL clubs) but if you want to pat your guy's on the back why not !!!
