A bit hard on Ash and Breman. Bit of pressure on the Materas. Morgan will be interesting. Not sure who he is. Must have seen him in the reserves.

Agree there JL , also like Jordan Faraone but he has had a couple of quiet weeks too. Morgan is from Claremont and came to us at the beginning of the year after winning the competition B&F in the ressies last year but looking for opportunities. Only seen him once this year against EF and liked what I saw.has pace and we probably lack that!

It beats me how Bailey Matera walks straight back in, or did he play some reserves?

Well that should finally convince everyone that Subi’s dominance is over. No fight back this time. Some ordinary efforts out there.

Outclassed today. Some selections didn't pay off. Swans looked good.

Yep. I'm with you guys. There were some pretty ordinary individual performances today but the most disappointing thing for me was the lack of endeavour after half time. There were quite a few who were just going through the motions when chasing, tackling, smothering and putting pressure on the ball carrier which is something the players prided themselves with in years gone by.

Swans were good but noway were they a 10 goal better side than us on paper which suggests to me the effort was just not there because we were poor. I also think the match day committee need to take a fair bit of the blame as they're persisting with guys like Putt and Vanirsen who just aren't up to league standard. That's not to say they won't be in future but they're passengers at the moment. We were outworked today and that's a problem that needs to be addressed by the leadership group, the coaches and the players themselves.

Oh and Kitch reported just to finish the day off.  :-(

A good first half where we were the better team but blew any chance of a win by horrible goal kicking, hence no scoreboard pressure going into the second half. A lot of that bad kicking was due to being continually forced wide when going into the 50 due to Erceg and Nottes dominant intercept marking. Swans dominated the pack marking especially after halftime.
It was an open free flowing game that was good to watch on a wonderful day out on the grass banks. They snagged a couple of goal square goals in the first half which is unforgiveable, the ball should have been knocked/soccered through by our backs but we gave them numerous chances to snap a goal. Swans goal kicking was elite for much of the game, we had many more scoring shots but failed to convert and when Swans flicked the switch after halftime, we gave very little in opposition. The third quarter was as bad as I've seen us play for decades, but credit to Swans who were very fast, very slick and very aggressive, that sort of footy will take them deep into September.

Why Putt is preferred to Eaton is a mystery, Eaton should be starting at CHF with an occasional run in the ruck to give Dela a rest. Dela looked strangely lethargic, was heavily targeted by Swans and was pretty beaten up by games end. Dropping a good and consistent Ash for Bailey Matera is dumbfounding, there might have been a case for Brandan to come straight in as he was in reasonable form playing forward/mid before getting injured. Badly missed Marsh's intensity at the stoppages, which left it all to Kitch who also was heavily targeted by Swans, Giro was terrific and ran hard the whole game. Smart  move by Swans to target Dela and Kitch given the cupboards a bit bare once they are tagged out of the game apart from Giro and the Hickmonts. Our defence did an admirable job but we are short down back with Lock's out, the new boys are doing their best and should be persisted with, unlike Vanirsen and Putt. We have better alternatives in the 2's and Colts who are both doing well.

Bye next week then a very good EF side, so it ain't getting any easier. definitely time to give more time to the youngsters as any chance of finals was snuffed out yesterday, we should be looking to next year and identifying where the many gaps in the list are and chase some decent recruits. This is definitely Delas last season and Heal is likely to hang up the boots as well, so we need tall defenders and a quality ruckman for starters, something we haven't had since Clark was unfairly banned by the WAFC from coming back to play with us. Next year we will get back Mayo, hopefully they wont try and turn him into a pinch hitting ruckman like they did to Dela, who is primarily a tall mid. I see Atkinson only had 3 touches in the 2's, hope he's not injured again. Braut didn't play, all those guys will be important with a full pre-season under their belts for '23, Golding had a good game in the 2's and is streets ahead of guy's like Vanirsen and Bailey Matera.

Sat with some really nice Swans people in the outer who enjoyed there win but were gracious as well, cant say the same for that mob (abuse crew?) in the Mcdonald stand, their language and abuse at anything not in black n white is offensive to say the least, I took my 5 yo grand daughter along but wont be taking her to Basso again anytime soon. They give a good club a bad name.

Agree with your comments about those people in the McDonald Stand SS, I never go near that area because they are just embarrassing to listen to.

From watching your guys yesterday, I agree that Subiaco's senior players are shouldering a fair load at the moment and the young guys haven't quite got up to speed yet. There is still a lot of talent in the team as they showed in the first half but that "team defence approach" that epitomosed Subi teams for so many years seems to be slightly off, which is understandable given the players you have lost to the AFL and Injury.

I don't think Subiaco will be down in the bottom half of the ladder for too long but in the meantime it is going to be good for the WAFL competition that someone else is winning the flag this season.

At half-time I said to a friend that we were lucky to be as close to Subi as we were, for they had what appeared most of the play and had just played 'smarter' football than Swans. But the saving grace was that many of Swans' forwards had been unsighted in the first half, and as it turned out they came into the game in the second half.

I agree with your comments regarding a small group of people in the McDonald Stand. I have sat in the same spot in that stand for many years, but it's a shame that a small minority of those remaining are obnoxious.
