I think it's probably not a bad move as Higgins isn't overly tall so shouldn't dominate Dela or Atkinson but it does give us an extra mid with Dela a lot more mobile than Higgins and getting at least double the possessions which we're going to need.

Terrific effort by the boys particularly in the first half. Our defence was superb keeping Souths to a single goal for the entire first half. They were always going to come back but fortunately we were able to hang in there. I don't think anyone player stood out over four quarters but Lockyer, Dewar, Heal down back were great. KItch, the Hickmotts and Clark in the mids were excellent for big parts of the game and Soks in the front half could have kicked 4 or 5 with better kicking. A big shout out to Jack Mayo who was electric in the first half to set it all up and did a few good things in the second. Souths will be a bit sore for next week after 2 tough games in a row so Cl or WP could be a big chance to go through. To me Souths are too tall all around the ground and if they're not clunking marks then they struggle a bit at ground level. Anyway, that's their problem and I'll just get myself all fired up for the big one. Terrific team effort by all.  Congrats to the ressies going through to the prelim as well.  I think they'll find it tough against either Cl or Perth but they're in with a chance I guess.

Thought Golding made some significant steps in his development. Mayo stood out for me though. Genuine centre half forward. Souths were unlucky to lose florenca early. Great feeling in the club afterwards. Putty got a fair bit of the ball in the reserves. Like the way  mullane marks the ball. Will be an important player in the future.

Agree JL about Golding. I thought he was pretty good today as well kicking a goal and laying some important tackles. If he gets a bit more of it he's going to be a very good player at league level. Also thought Dela battled manfully in the ruck and did some good things around the ground as well. I thought Souths got a pretty good ride from the umps in the second and third but no surprises we end up on the wrong end of the free kick count.

Agree about Mullane, he really caught the eye today with some spectacular marking in the ressies. Mayo was terrific and put his stamp on the game early. Fast hectic football spoiled by bewildering umpiring, some interpretation of frees given to South’s today I can’t even begin to fathom. Call out to South’s Zach Strom - what a terrific game, the guy can do anything!

On the injury front, Max Walters appeared to be struggling. I noticed at half time he was doing some running and I think he didn’t finish the game out?

Max copped a corky in the second I think it was over on the outer side. Had it strapped and finished the game out. Braut was a bit sore at the end with a knee and Dela had some niggles as well but I'd be surprised if any of those won't sort themselves out over the next fortnight.

Subi into another granny, who would have thought? Oh well you are obviously the best team. South fall short again against your club in finals. I just hope whoever makes it into the granny to play you doesn’t turn their toes up like South did in 2019.

Yep, it feels all too normal, DD. Perth back at the bottom, Subi back on top. EF, SD and EP stay hopeful, and may bob up from time to time, but I can't see anyone other than the big 3 having sustained success.

We should go alright in the ressies BC. Two of our best were out yesterday, Ash and Matthews, hopefully they will be right for next week. Weeks ago Rumble stated Mullane and Henderson were pushing hard for league selection (along with Golding) and that they will become very good backmen at league level
