Yes Fathers, like Munro knew how to take a grab but couldn't kick for shit. Both good value though. What about 78 though and grumpy Mick Malone stepping up to take over from Fathers who was unexpectedly a big loss. Malone another who couldn't kick fs and could have got close to a ton that year 55.47!

Shit, I forgot about Malone mate.

I was at a game in 1978....on my own as I was allowed to catch the bus/train by then. I'm not sure if it was that day when he kicked 11 but I was standing behind the city goals getting a hot dog or something. He had a shot....it hit the goal post and went through the big sticks and it was given a goal. But I also saw a game when he kicked one through the guts against EF maybe?and it was given a behind and he went off. Same year I think. Actually I'm sure the second incident was when he kicked 11.8.

I tell you who was a pretty ordinary forward as a recruit was Glen Durnthaler.........what were we doing back then
I remember a game vs perth that year we only kicked 1 goal to half time and we got flogged as usual with grumpy Mick not scoring a goal for the whole game. He then proceeded to throw my little bro's autograph book on the ground when he gave it to him to sign haha moron

Golding on an extended bench, but also named for reserves? Oscar Matthews replaces Putt, also on extended bench but named in reserves. Robbins on that bench but not on reserves list. A few others lucky to retain their spots?
Can't believe Golding misses out again ffs. Fullgrabe very lucky imo, the Hickmott's too! Narkle not named in either side, injured I hope

Walters up forward might be a good move. A bit of height, and clever with the ball.

I noticed in the team published on the WAFC website Robbins is number 16 and Hickmott 14...I hope Jacob Miller and Ryan Borchet aren't done for the year and it's just an error. Surely they wouldn't swap numbers at this late stage.

I think the club is doing the right thing with Maxy after that severe concussion, he has no fear for his own well being so throwing him into the mids fulltime would not be wise. He has always been a goal kicking mid, has great goal sense so should be handy.

BC agree about the possible future set up of our forward line, if it was me I would be using Braut in the mids rotation, he's an absolute bull, but is also quick and very good on both sides, he could really help guys like Kitch & the Hickmonts by creating space for them to work. He would be quite intimidating.

I dont think Borch will be back in time for finals after seeing him with a moonboot and on crutches, which is a shame as we look far more balanced with him at FF which allows Sok to have more space as a roaming forward. Good luck to big Jack tomorrow, will obviously play managed time but he needs to get that confidence back in his knee. More expectaions for next year rather than this but who knows. Was hoping to get there early to see some of the ressies but bloody work is interferring with my weekend footy

Usual when a one off jumper (Naidoc) that players have different jumper numbers, also hope that's all to it!

Having a beer at the Subi hotel. More Subi  footy club pics up. 2013 team up and a centenary pic.

Nice to see. Wonder if there is a link between the club and the hotel. A rare win for the Wafl.

The shenton park used to have some subi pics up. Hayden Brunton, I think, drank there. He had a rule about not drinking with players, didn't he?

A win is a win I guess but jeez we were ordinary after half time. Decision making and skill execution were out of the window after the main break. The number of times the Hickmott's, Harry Marsh, Delahunty all butchered delivery into the forward line was just gobsmacking. Open targets and even worse, open goals were missed by a mile and turned over. I was ready to leave at 3 qtr time as I wasn't prepared to watch any more of that rubbish but my daughter convinced me to stay. Out of the carnage Kitch was great, Greg Clark continues his great season, Chad Harris impresses each week, Jordan Lockyer pulled us out of the shit on numerous occasions but the rest were average at best and ordinary at worst. The Hickmott's need to regroup back in the two's, Nick Martin could probably join them as he's not producing consistently, Fullgrabe injured today so he can go back as well. We need an injection of youth to get the spark back as we're currently not a shadow of a few years ago. Two losses on the trot followed by an average performance today sees us hanging on to a top 5 spot for the moment.

Some hard words BC, but some truth in them .
in young hickmont's defence he took some good marks in defence, like his old man used to. I vote we stick with him. Maxy was good up forward. To some extent, at least.

The boggy ground made delivery difficult, but lots of skill errors. Reserves looked a bit disjointed after last week's travails. Their coach spoke emotionally about the jumper in the club rooms. felt for him. Still, some talent in the ressies. All is not lost. Farone kicked nice goal. A bit light at present I suppose.
clubrooms buzzing after game. A good sign. Debutantes helped in that regard.

Yes, BC is right, the team are still a bit flat. Perth had more verve, they just couldn't deliver into the last 50 with enough precision. If they had, it could have been another boil over.
Putt being dropped felt a bit rough. In the clubroom speeches a lot was made of his replacement, Oscar Matthews. Putt was seen leaving the venue early. Hopefully a likeable, if flawed, young footballer is kept positive.
The reserves coach was strikingly grim in his speech. Been a tough week with the upheavals there.
But subi won and are apparently top of the ladder. So, things could be worse, of course.
