This should be our biggest test yet.  The reigning premiers at their home ground with both sides in pretty good form and well rested after a week off.  The layoff should help the likes of Aaron Heal and Brandon Matera be well and truly over their hamstring complaints with Stainsby back in after suspension and Nick Martin pushing up.   Bailey Matera, Isaac Clinch, Nick Menegola and maybe Jacob Miller all in the firing line.  I think our forwards have got their backs covered and our defence should break even but it's Souths mids that are the big worry for me as if we let them get too much of the ball it's game over.  It should be a great game and wouldn't be surprised to see either side over the line in a close one.  At a pinch...Subi by a goal.

Those 3 are good versatile ins, Martin can play key position or as a big mid, Upton is a mid/foward and Stainsby is similar, will need more run through the mids in our next 2 games against the 2 best teams in the comp in SF & Cl to be competetive. Any news if Heal is ready? badly missed his steadying influence v Joondy.

Borchet missing and no Brandon Matera but Nick Martin, Stainsby and Heal in.  An 18yo colt Matthew Johnson a chance to debut.  At 191cm and 80kgs he looks a likely midfielder type.  Good luck to him if he does get the nod.

Cheers DG...I didn't spot that. Mind you he's playing out of position down forward but a big loss due to his versatility nonetheless.

Been carrying an elbow injury I think for a few weeks so obviously they are using last weeks bye and this week to get him right. Not a bad team listed, forget the positions, Martin will play FF, Farone in the pocket, would think Heal will go down back as Souths have some real quality there. best we can hope is to break even in the mids, Expect Higgins to dominate the hitouts but will be interesting to see how Putt comes up this week after a quiet one last game. Hopefully a close game and we just come out on top.

If the teams on the WAFC website are anything to go by it looks like young Matthew Johnson will make his league debut straight from colts. Good luck young fella.

Brave effort by the boys but losing two before half time made it tough. We were short after that and got thrashed in the air. Finally worked out a work around before 3/4 time- the dwarf highway. South mids on to except last quarter. They just seemed bigger. Subi kicked it over their forwards heads a lot. I hate that.
also Putt and heal need to learn how to keep the ball n front of them. Not natural forwards. Della was much better as a midfielder, not a forward .

Putt improved though. Millar played a better game. Stainsbury added energy. All is not lost.

Yes, a brave effort by subi. It was grim up till three quarter time. The huddle was shambolic, Wardman arrived very late and apart from a few guys shouting, the group looked a bit lost, standing around looking for direction.
But this team has spirit. They rallied and clearly won the last quarter and managed to put a scare into the coasting bulldogs. I realise this is looking hard for positives, but it was impressive to end so strongly after being hammered comprehensively before.
Tigers next week an even bigger challenge.
