I see recruiting restrictions will be lifted by the WAFC as early as next week. They were ridiculous to start with and to be honest, with the Colts winning the flag and ressies finishing top 4 I'm not sure we need to recruit other than maybe a mid or two and a ruckman. Horse, Kitch, Dela, Jordy Lockyer, Gus Litherland all entering the twilights of their illustrious careers will have to be replaced at some point so probably a good time to start developing some kids. We had 7 debutants and turned over 35 players this year so that's a good starting base.

2 colts flags in 3 years, is there still an issue with subi's zones as I seem to recall a lot of crying over the years from Subi supporters regarding their weak zones ?

Haha yes all gone very quiet on that front MO.
I did try and tell them going back they had a goldmine (not just Kalgoorlie's either) up in the Northern suburbs but was shouted down over it.
Remember we had to accommodate some of our zone to EP who in turn lost some to Subi, maybe that can all be reversed now especially as our Colts finished last?!

Not sure when the colts - u/19's comp started maybe late 50's? anyway Subi have in that 60 odd year period won 4 colts flags, '74, '89, 2018 & 2020. Not exactly dominating the comp, that crown goes to either Claremont or Souths I expect. But had some good kids with excellent coaches in the last 3 or 4 years, prior to that we were colts cellar dwellers. This year was a big surprise as major underdogs v Cl.

Would like to know the number of teams and players in each clubs district, would make interesting reading.

I never agreed with that rule, but this further demonstrates how the WAFL has dropped the ball on equalisation. If they are serious, they need to make structural changes around zones or points loading where more successful teams take players from lesser teams. If they are going to rely on just pulling levers season by season, nothing will change. That approach results in inconsistency. So EP, despite entering the alignment with their eyes open, and boasting about the financial advantage derived from it, still get an extra points allowance. Perth are docked points on the back of finishing 6th for 2 years. And Subi suffer one year of recruiting restrictions on the back of the most successful era in WAFL history. Makes no sense to me.

Agree with everything you've said TN. There needs to be structural changes not just knee jerk reactions.

Poor old Gavin Ted, the bloke has/had no clue. Thank farrrk he's bluffed his way into another gig over east. The further away he is from the WAFL the better.

Perth haven't been docked points- they're 10 above the base level. Its my understanding that the base went from 120 or 130 to 100.

OK, leave out the word "docked." There is no basis for Perth to have fewer points than SD, EF and most certainly EP. I always say you need to look at a team's performance over at least a 5 year period to gauge where it is at in terms of on-field success. You can't do it season by season as the WAFC seems to. Over the last 5 years, SD, EF and P have been significantly worse than other WAFL clubs. Yes, P have shown some improvement in the last 3 years, but in terms of total number of games won over 5 years, there is no meaningful difference between those three clubs. When a weaker club shows signs of improvement, why would the WAFL then make it harder to build on that foundation?
