Beau Wardman gets another 2 years to his contract at Subi. Good to have continuity at the club, he's very well respected by all at the club, very different coach to Schoey who was much more forceful, Beau is more thoughtful but his preparation for games holds it's own against Schoeys meticulous approach.

Cant take too much away from 2020, we had a horrendous run of injuries to our A graders but that allowed game time for some youngsters like Atkinson the Hickmonts and Breman. A full season with a proper pre-season preparation should hopefully see us back in finals action but with teams like EP and Perth on the rise and the current remaining finalists still promising to be strong contenders, it promises to be a close run comp, just what the WAFL needs after a very difficult 2020.

Faark me, are u saying Wardman is well respected by the players...??

I'm hearing they think he's a clown and it's a $$$ issue.

And where are you hearing that from?
According to many on here Subi have unlimited financial resources so how can it be a money issue?

SS...I also think there'd be no shortage of prospective coaches around who'd take on the gig for nothing given Subi's success in recent times...so don't think money is an issue. From what I've seen on game day and the demeanour of the players, I think he's respected ok. Plus the fact the players coach themselves through the leadership group so think Wardman is more a people manager than a coach.

BC and SS I wouldn’t worry too much. Tugboat is just running out of options to wind supporters up since Ross Lyon was shown the door at Fremantle.

He probably makes a fair point though DD as it would be easy to assume that a bloke with less experience in footy than half the playing group wouldn't necessarily be respected. But I don't think tuggers understands Wardman's role at the club...as I said earlier he's more a people manager than a coach mapping out roles and structures more so than coaching. I couldn't see him telling the likes of Delahunty, Kitchin, Horsley, Lockyer, Litherland or Marsh how to play the game...they'd tell him to get stuffed.

BC your spot on, the head coach is the manager and game play planner, if the players need a specific bit of coaching its normally done by the line assistants not the head coach. Beau makes sure everyone's on the same page and sticking to structures, not teaching blokes how to kick or handball.

Cant think of a more appropriate name for this bloke ... Tuggers!! ..... careful boy you might go blind.

BC I recall you posting that there is a succession plan and forgive me but I obviously assumed the plan was to take effect from next season.
I am not sure that coaching by committee is or has ever been a recipe for success. I trust your knowledge of the players ability to perhaps be playing coaches but I personally am not sure of the process being one Subiaco and its coterie would like for very long.

I don't recall saying that Grump as I'm not aware of a specific succession plan. In saying that, I think all Subi supporters believe Horsley is a natural and hope that one day he'll get the senior coaches job at the club but he'll need to go away and do an apprenticeship first when his playing days are over. There's no coaching by committee rather the player's leadership group does a lot of the standards setting and drives professionalism within the playing group at training, game day, rehab and so on. They set the bar very high and if individuals don't want to buy in then they don't last long.

I'll call it BC. Horsley plays one more year, then one year as an assistant then Wardman steps aside for Horsley to take over.
