I'm with you Mikeh, unfortunately this mob in Canberra, and I mean both sides are only interested in holding onto or gaining power, running the country comes in a distant second. On top of that is a veracious media who are only interested in scandal and bad news stories.

I'm sure that if Tony got a chance again he would take it, just like Rudd did.

And good old Tony has just been out in the last fortnight reminding some of his former colleagues that he knows how to win elections and they don't!

Listening to whats coming out in the media I think that Julie Bishop is starting to make her move. She, IMHO is the only person in the Libs that can reduce the damage that will be done at the next election. It seems inevitable that Lab will get in so it's all about who is best placed to reduce the margin they win by. She is very popular with both sexes and is now an experienced pollie and minister with a strong grasp on foreign affairs. The last thing the country needs is a WA situation where the winning side is so dominant there is no effective opposition and worse still if Lab win both houses, it will give Shortarses union masters carte blanche to do what they want.

SS it won't help in WA placate the anger and wrath that West Australians feel about WA's share of the GST. WA has at least three senior members of the current government.

S42: your right of course -- only secession can fix that problem -- every other state gets more than 100 cents, they will never give that up.

It is why the Americans, in large part, have always oppossed 'internal improvements ', as they tend to favour one state at the expense of another. The GST is suppose to be a tax -- one merely collectted by the federal government -- it not an 'internal improvement measure'.

There are far too many weak kneed liberal voters in this state.

Six years of a labor government under Rudd and Gillard and they couldn’t or wouldn’t change the GST. Now current ALP House of Representative Member from WA Matt Keogh says it is politically impossible to change the GST. S42 your assignment should you choose to accept it is to lobby your ALP mates to change the GST or is that mission impossible.
