Don’t get me wrong on this.

Not a big fan of Poms but will defend the constitutional monarchy and legal system that was inherited from them and works bloody well in this country.

Remember they were quick to drop us in the sixties when they wanted to join the common market.

My greatest worry about the flag is that the feelgood tossers will try and transpose the Jack with another flag or a fricken boomerang.

And along came Swandog. If you didn’t know there is no such thing as an aboriginal nation, they are just a composite group of different totem tribes and therefore having a race icon on a national flag would be an insult to ALL Australians.

I think an even better change would be the southern cross and star in its usual spots and the aboriginal flag in the top left hand corner to truly represent all our people

I think your brother in law needs to drop the blinkers. I'm also a long serving former member of the RAN and would love to get rid of that Union Jack off the flag. You get a bit brainwashed with the flag thing when you start, but once you start thinking for yourself you have to question the relevance

My brother (not bro in law) doesn't have blinkers on mate, he has served in war zones a Chief Petty officer and been in 30 yrs plus still going, and thinks for himself! how long did you last?
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

So are you saying that aboriginal people are false or something? I think we should acknowledge the country's first inhabitants. Yes they would probably still live in primitive conditions it wasn't for European settlement but not acknowledging Aboriginal people is an insult to them!

Every now and again you hear this change the flag bs from the usual numpties, usually on Oz Day or Anzac Day...

Put it to a vote like the Kiwis did and you'll soon get a kick in the rear end like the know alls in NZ did, epic fail.

Leave the bloody flag alone!

The flag is embarrassing, get rid of it.
And that's from a rare dinosaur WAFL supporter

I wouldn't think the Australian flag would need changing after the Brexit vote. The usual suspects will no doubt push the subject. There are far bigger and more important issues that need attention. For example, is a new flag going to ease the high cost of living pressures? No of course not.
One never knows, Australia might start trading with the UK more?

Swandog, if you do your anthropological research you’ll know the original Sapien inhabitants in Australia were replaced a long time ago by two other migrations firstly the Melanesian and then the Austronesian. So what you think may be the original inhabitants are either the second or third.

And you want to put an icon that represents the second and third invasion of this country in place of an icon that represents the fourth invasion.

Interesting!!

My other issue is that you said “I think” and there lies the problem.

Too many people want to put their warm and fuzzys into places they don’t belong, like the flag, without doing the proper research and drawing the right conclusions.

How about we stop bringing up emotional warm and fuzzys that divide the country and stick with the things that actually unite this country.
