You'd go Subiaco Oval v Leederville if they were the only options - chalk & cheese in overall quality for the punter and his family

Pretty sure you could guarantee the working scoreboard at Subi (unless the WAFC forgot to pay the bills which wouldn't surprise me at all actually come to think of it)

Better off at Freo Oval & split the bar profits evenly by arrangement

Leederville would be OK, theres bugger all parking at Subi as well.

Bazza how many seats are under cover at Leedeville Oval?

What is the capacity of Leederville Oval?

Are you advocating a night GF at Leederville Oval?

Official capacity is 18,000 but I would imagine with some additional preparation 20,000 could be accomodated easily.

Under cover would be 1000 tops I would guess.

No, day GF for Leederville.

So Bazza if you say 1000 tops are under cover compared to how many at Subiaco Oval what sort of crowd would you get to a WAFL GF at Leederville if there was a repeat of the weather that occurred in 2014?

I question how you could fit 18,000 into Leederville Oval in 2015.

Without being to cynical would there be a scoreboard working at Leederville for the GF?

I reckon on a good day weather wise the crowd at Leederville would be a lot better atmosphere wise and more attractive as a spectacle than at Subi, even with 15 - 20 000 subi looks shithouse on GF day , rows and rows of empty seats and bit of noise echoing around the joint like an empty warehouse.

On a bad day, well considering we only got 10,000 at the so called Home of Football , I reckon 7000 at Leederville would of actually presented a better spectacle.

The figure of 18,000 is from the venue website. I would say on the terraced banks you could fit 10,000 easily. With some improvements more for example the areas under mulch could also be terraced. some more work including a new scoreboard is needed though I admit that.

I think we all agree Subi Oval looks terrible GF day with the stadium 90% vacant. This is why the WACA would be suitable, but that wont happen this year. Ive been a supporter of playing it at a suburban venue. Its time the move was made and the atmosphere would be terrific. Last year was a total disaster and there is no way there was 11k there, that would indicate the ground was 1/4 full which it was not. That ground was barely 1/20th full. The 11k was an attempt at face saving for the WAFC, of that I am certain.

Either way channel 7 will get whatever they want. They don't care about crowds, they care about ratings. This is why the WAFL lost when channel 9 was given no chance to bid for the telecasts. I would have preferred channel 9 and given the way channel 7 have dictated start times and days with inappropriate schedualling, that all but proves 9 would have been a better option. But for some reason the commission are tantalised by channel 7 like some insecure school kid. The quality of channel 7's telecast cant be questioned, its very good I think. Yes they yak about AFL at times but the commentary is very good with Readings, Bell & Embley. But the times like 11.30am starts on Sundays is just totally degrading to the WAFL, not positive in any way at all.

And with channel 7's basic hijacking of how everything runs now, the huge concern for me is they will get their night grand final. I don't mind that too much though Id prefer a day final. But given the AFL preliminary finals are played on a Saturday night, the only option I see 7 being able to go with will be Sunday night. And that would be an absolute crowd killer for families, and that's the problem. Families are the competitions bread & butter. This is my concern that channel 7's agenda will compromise the fabric of what the WAFL is all about. And I think we can confidently bet the WAFC wont have the guts to stand up too them if push came to shove.

The WACA would be great venue for a grand final in the WAFL. As for Channel 7 naff off. If they can not broadcast all clubs then give it back to the ABC or give Channel 9 a crack at it. I see there is another Sunday game in a few weeks and its a 11.30am start down in Manduarah! Hardly a fan friendly timeslot for visitors
