It always amazes me that some of the main protagonists against any sort of change to the WAFL because of its deep traditions and meanings to most footy followers in this state are quite happy to disregard 100 years of tradition and go with a new symbol of our national identity.

Whether you guys like it or not the Flag is who we are and represents for most our original origins.

Stop trying to relate it to some silly feeling of inferiority that you have for Britain and paranoia about all things British.

The Australian flag uses three prominent symbols: the Union Flag, the Federation (or Commonwealth)Star and the Southern Cross.

The Union Flag symbolises Australia's history as six British colonies and the principles upon which the Australian Federation is based.

The Commonwealth Star originally had only six points, representing the six federating colonies.

Get a life!

No, the flag is who we were. British subjects.

Having said that, my parents are against changing the flag, not for any other reason apart from as they say "It's what they were brought up on".

If the majority doesn't want change, then that's fine by me.

Change should only come when the majority are comfortable with it. If that time hasn't arrived then probably change shouldn't come yet.

the flag debate forever rears its head whenever a government is looking desperately for ways to divert attention from its failures. all it takes is for a microscopic lint of flag talk to be strategically released, and then we are all off like headless chooks.

we fall for it every 3-4 years.

our flag IS our history. sections of it represent how we were formed whether we like it or not. if our history did not happen the way it did, we would all be speaking chinese right now. you dont think they are throwing their chopsticks against the wall today regretting that missed opportunity.

At least you know that a decision will be made by the people by referendum - one way or the other.

Unlike the host club ruling which neither went to a vote of the East Perth or Peel members nor the 9 WAFL clubs.

Democracy at work, WAFC style.

Okay, I'm tired of the stalling and I'm changing the flag because you guys are taking too long to act. Flag changing, WAFC style.

Woolies offloaded Dick Smith Electronics last year for a major loss. I believe it was purchased by the same consortium that were trying to take over QANTAS.

Sorry to butt in on your argument anchor, but I'm with you here. I hardly think the highlighted comment is the point. I was horrified at the time (and still am) that someone that isn't part of our country anymore can tell us who will run our country and who can't. Time to grow up I think and be our own country where mistakes made will be OUR mistakes. Bessie, Kerr and Fraser should have been keelhauled for destroying our democracy.

Well the greater amount of people obviously didnt disagree with liz's decision. Lucklily she had more brains than some of the voters here then eh 58! Vouldnt have been much of a backlash, against Liz etc, otherwise they would have been voted back in. get what ya deserve!!..probably not intelligent enough i suspect!, would that be the case?
