Your not seeing things, and it's not photoshopped.

It was really flying in Canberra, although Little Johnny at the time refused to have to flying from the mast in the middle.

Mike.

I'm in the 'get rid of it' camp. With all due respects Cardy, I haven't heard people claim they fought for the flag, but I've heard people say 'I fought under the flag FOR my country'. I really like the Eureka flag, but the BLF have tainted it to a point where it represents greed, Fascism and Mafia like tactics. Would any govt have the balls to say 'that's our national flag and anyone using it to degrade it will be prosecuted'? Nah, won't happen.

The thing is that it's our original flag... It's the Australian people's flag. Its older than the Commonwealth, and it stands for all things Australian even more so today...

There has been some call in recent years to gain the flag back within government and media levels.

It's sad that we were taught the flag was associated with rebellion at school. This is why its tainted, and why the loons and the BLF have claimed it.

Australian's have gone into battle with this flag. Its well documented. I also remember footage of an Australian APC rolling into East Timor proudly flying the flag , which was also apparently flying from the HMAS Adelaide on the same day in the Timor sea.

Maybe business starting to fly the flag on the 3rd December could be the start of reversal over the last 8 years, but it would take a strong government to step in and recognise the flag, let alone claim it as the Australian flag.

If we were to fly the NZ flag from Parliament House how many of us would spot the difference. Time to have a flag that is uniquely & undeniably Australian!

Sorry but it is a British flag on a blue background with a symbolic sop (the southern cross) to us from those people who still think we are their retirement village.

Have a flag that symbolises our country, the black, brown red and blue that is us not something we were given by the largely english foreign office!

Seen plenty of bogans running around with Southern Cross Tattoo's and Aussie flags draped over their backs today, dont know whether its just me but i find it cringe worthy.

I celebrate Australia Day with a barbie with mates and watch the cricket, no doubt these bogans are the same people that post images of the flag on Facebook that say if you dont like it **** off.

I thought this crap only happened in America.

Agree Agree!!! The redneck is alive and well in this country, i dont really feel anything different today than any other ANZAC day is our day of importance IMO today is just an excuse for idiots to get blind pissed and make fukwits of themselves, it is very cringeworthy for some to have flags hanging off their windows and stickers saying fukoff we are full, it should be an offence to have those stickers on cars in the first place i reckon
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

I actually like our current flag(even though its similar to heaps of other countries flags) but having said that I think we definitley need a change, getting away from the pommie union jack, dont know what I would like but it certainly would not include the aboriginal flag!
