Despite being the one of 63.7% of voters who didn't give Albo their primary vote, I'm relieved that he's got to 76 seats and has control of the lower house hence no need to negotiate with the fairies at the bottom of the garden (greens) and all the indo's, at least in the lower house, but will have to bend over for them all in the upper house. Would expect the big job producing policies and projects which the Greens hate, will get Lib support and not be delayed too much and some sensible climate stuff gets approved, not the extremism that the greens want or the "lets do nothing" that the far right of the LNP want.

I'd like to know how this so called "government for women" now has less females in cabinet 10 females - 13 males than in opposition when the numbers were even. Also of the seven leadership positions across both houses there's 5 males and only 2 females which is a worse ratio than the coalition. So much for Albonesia's grandstanding about giving women a leg up.

i thought yesterday they were confident of getting to 77, is there anything left to count or recount? With 77 they don’t have to rely on the speaker to get things through. Still, it’s a very narrow or narrowest of margins. Anyone gets crook, quits, forced to step down then they could be a minority government.

BC the ABC have picked up on your points today , saying it;s the same old boys club, anyway I dont care about a ministers genders, or if they are the first muslim women or the first one handed blind lesbian african , I just want them to have the ability to do the best job.

Latest figures now have Indigenous MPs making a number of pollies that way outnumbers their numbers in the population as a percentage , meaning they are now over presented, on that basis I am bemused why they need an additional "voice" in Parliament.

They have ended up with 77.

Australia didnt vote for Labor, their primary vote went down, and their 32% primary represents the lowest ever to form government. Its more of a case they didnt want SCO MO but wanted something else besides Labor, the Liberal heartland didnt turn red, and apart from WA the ALP didnt really pick up much at all.

All this means ALBO is sitting on a slim majority which is in striking distance if the Libs and Nats can get shit together in 3 years - don;t hold your breath.

Not sure where you go those figures but the Nats only picked up 3.83% on vote in Lower House.

DD they have an arrangement as set out below.

In parliamentary practice, pairing is an informal arrangement between the government and opposition parties whereby a member of a legislative body agrees or is designated by the party whip to be absent from the chamber or to abstain from voting when a member of the other party needs to be absent from the chamber.

I think I was like most voters who turned away from the major parties, I wanted to see a change of government but Albanese didn’t appeal to me but I am more impressed with him since and I’m prepared to give him and his party a go. Barring any pink bats fiascos and mutinies they probably only have to swim between the flags to win a second term by a bigger margin next time around.
