Therein lies a big problem, we’re only told what “they” want to tell us.  How about something really revolutionary….truth on both sides of the story.

I am surprised that people asking for the mandates to be overturned are considered "Hillbillies" like they are an uneducated minority. If so, does this make the entire nations of England, Denmark, Sweden, etc..."Hillbillies." Even more as we are so much more vaccinated than they are, on top of environmental factors such as having a lower population density. The overturning of mandates and/or relaxing of covid restrictions are becoming the norm around the world. Outside our little bubble of WA we are the minority. Very few states let alone countries have mandated the third booster in the same manner as WA. So why the negativity around those who are asking the question?

Three weeks ago if an anti-vax said you would have only 4% protection being doubled dosed, people would have scoffed at them saying "here is the tin foiled hat brigade again." I'm here to tell you that Mcgowans quote of 64% protection for a third is just as debatable. Just to prove the point, the percentages quoted in the past month by other premiers and other heads of state (and including Pfizer CEO) do not reference the 64%. I've seen up to 90% and as little as negligible difference. So who is right? Maybe the science is a bit more debatable than people are making out.

One last thing I will back up the hillbillies with. It is pretty clear that vax and unvax alike spread omricon almost equally (if not exactly the same). Why then restrictions on the unvax? I am not safer at the pub because there are no unvaxxed in the joint. Many of the restrictions are out of spite and not due to a genuine health reasons. I.e bottleshops is in place purely too punish. If it is to protect them and the health system, please show us the modelling or how many beds exactly do these policies expect to free up? These policies are easily the most restricting and segregating in my 50 years on the planet. I would like some serious data to back up these measures. I suspect there isn't or that at best it makes a negligible difference as witnessed in the US where the hospitalisations and deaths didn't align with restrictions on the unvaxxed. In other words we can point to real life examples where restrictions on the unvaxxed do effectively nothing. What we really need to talk about is that deaths and hospitalisations correlate much more closely with age and obesity than it does with vaccination status. 

So let's do better than just saying the people protesting are "right wing nut jobs" "Hillbillies" "tin foil hatter." They are a variety of people from different walks of life and land everywhere on the political spectrum. Engage with their questions and not look to silence them. Because have we not learnt from the past that there is not one example that segregating a minority from many aspects of society ends well. We never look back on those times and say "gee we are proud of those policies." It is generally a source of national shame.

The reason people call them hill billies is because of the way they conduct themselves. It's like the vegan activists. No one gives a toss because of the way they go about it. Deliberately trying to shut down businesses, upset everyone, shut down freeways, yell and abuse people who do want to wear masks or eat meat.

If people want to protest bloody go for it. As you say "let's be better about it" and stop trying to shut down a business or a freeway to get your point across ..... Don't be an ass hat about it.

Viper I get your sentiment, however, unlike a vegan who can freely protest then carry on living their lives, someone who isn't vaxxed is actually restricted about where they go. So it is hardly the same comparison.

Shutting down a freeway etc...is no way to go about it. Fair enough but that is my point when people are segregated expect more. My quote: "Because have we not learnt from the past that there is not one example that segregating a minority from many aspects of society ends well." I think that is the reason why we need to be looking to lift restrictions on these people rather than doubling down. There needs to be serious reasons and debate around this topic because in democratic society we do not restrict minorities.

Never in my life have i met a big bunch of sooks than these anti-vax / anti-manadate f'wits.   Boo Hoo the government told me to do something therefore im not doing it.   You're an embarrassment to the human race, and deserve to be treated like the 2nd class citizens you are. 
You people need to grow up, get vaxxed and move on.  Dont you have any real problems in your life you could spend time fixing? Maybe you need some to give a little perspective.

I am yet to see anyone reply back to my original statements with scientific/health evidence about why these restrictions are logical and coherent with the current science. So far I have only seen "sooks, f'wits, move on with your lives stuff" but not one nuanced discussion. "You deserve to be treated like second class citizens", that is a massive call, do we really want to live in a society were it ok to call people 2nd class, maybe that's why they are protesting realising that people are slowly dehumanising them. Yet before arbitrary date of 31st Jan when the restrictions really kicked in they were ok to be treated like normal citizens.

Do you realise that these people are actually inline with the majority of the world and it is you that are the outlier. Very very few places around the world have a mandated third booster, for the majority of the workforce, coupled with punitive restrictions.

So your vaxxed, but your problems is being told to get vaxxed?  Ever followed the speed limit?  Ever murdered someone?  Society has rules. It is not much to ask for.   
As for your scientific evidence, im no doctor, but 5 mins on the WHO website tells me enough.  

I wouldnt be taking too much advice from other countries on how to handle COVID.  Id take our low death rates over anywhere else for starters. Some people do have a short memory.

Jake with 95% of eligible Australians double vaccinated and roughly 50% boostered then I'd say the anti-vaxxers are a very small vocal minority.  The silent majority just get on with it.
