If biden wins he will last no more than a few months. He is so compromised now he will get a tap on the shoulder by the far left and Harris will be president, which is truly scary.

Probably be a good start if could at least have a leader that brings people together and is prepared to condemn Neo Nazis and Neo Marxists - extremes on both sides.

But as you say it has issues that many nations just doesn't have, including us thank goodness.

take that judge, she is actually ideal for the job, but everything is too partisan these days.

should they win the Senate Dems must follow through with the threat to pass bills by 51 votes, ignorring the filibuster rule, which is a ridiculous Americanism. After all, and this is where, the Republicans have been far too clever, 51 votes was good enough for the confirmation of the judge.

Absolutely ridiculous the carry on over there with the appointment of judges.

Judges here, the UK, NZ and Canada come and go with hardly a murmur.

I think the problem with the US supreme court is that just about every appointment is politically based, who will vote along the lines of either parties philosophies. The latest appointment is an outspoken extreme right wing fundamentalist Catholic Christian who has voiced her opinions on things like abortion and gun laws, both are archaic imho.

Judges should be or at least appear to be impartial, they are their to represent the people and the law, if it's to change a law or implement a new one then they must listen to the arguments and decide only on that, not their own personal view or beliefs.

yep, I hear you Baz; the last 'super majority' in the Senate (US) was in the late 70s. Obama actually got it close at around 58. This must have been how he got some sort of Health Reform Bill passed.

Judges here and all over the world are appointed by the government of the day as well, yet they are seldom seen as "political" with the exception of the infamous Lionel Murphy appointment.
