Growler, the coaching panel pick the best side for the game & then hope & expect they will play to their ability. The game was lost on the ground & not the selection table. Unfortunately on the day we had too many players down for us to impact for four quarters. You could not fault Wests endeavour for the first quarter & a half. The ten to fifteen minutes before half time is where the game was broken but not necessarily lost.To be five goals down at the break was not an unsurmountable lead, however the first ten minutes of the third quarter with the bulk of play in our forward half we only managed to kick one goal four behinds proving costly. Subi against the flow of play ran the ball down & scored full points opening the floodgates. It was the inability of our key forwards to impact the game when we had the ball in our forward half proved to be our downfall. Subis defence stood tall aided by our deplorable ball use. Their ball use & eventually their run were the biggest differences of the two teams overall.
You have criticised our backline for being too loose. It does appear that way when the ball is turned over the way it was on Sunday. WP push players back when they don't have the ball then push hard forward when they do. A critical turnover exposes the defence to be opened up when playing this style & at times making the defenders look unaccountable. How many times through the game did we have possession & run going our way only to miss a target & then get burnt on the turnover. This is not to excuse the couple of occassions a Subi player lining up for a shot on goal was able to pass off to an unmarked player within twenty metres of goal when we did have numbers back. We gave it our best shot & on the day were not good enough. Playing so many games without a break may have played a part in running out of legs. I do not agree we ran out of heart.Subi were too good as their position on the ladder indicated & congratulations to them on their outstanding season.I thought the attendance of loyal supporters to the after game function at the Italian Club was fantastic. What would it have been like if we won. Bill may have been subdued in his speech on the night. Bloody hell he & his staff had just endured one long day!! WP do need to upgrade their list to be competitive against the likes of Subiaco next season, but save the fire & brimstone for another day when he has had time to review the game. My selections for best players were Andrew Stryk , Steve Potente, Ray Bartholemeuw, Jay Van Berlo & Chris Keunen. West Perth have had a great season, unfortunately there happened to be one team better than them this year!!! Go West,!

Good summary VF.The final 5 set up is a stuff up and made it too hard on WP against a refreshed Subi.especially after playing so many games without a break and the warm weather certainly did not help either.I agree with your selection of best players for WP.Thought Razor was good and tried his guts out.Does he retire or go around again next year.?

yeah it as hilarious....Browne is a gutless prick just like you. If you thought running through a bloke going back with the flight of the ball to take a courageous mark was a good look then you are a bigger tool than I previously thought....moron.

So he is meant to pull up and let him mark it BC , is that what your saying ? Maybe you should tell Wortho too, he did the same 2 weeks earlier. You are far too biased

one player had eyes only for the ball, the other had eyes only for the man. the fact Browne was reported says it all.

I also see Tedesco got reported for rough contact on Boland...it was down the other end from me but it didn't look good on the big screen....deliberate contact to Boland's head with a boot or a leg after he'd taken a mark.

Like I said last week about being brutal towards the Subi players early in the game but it just didn't happen & when it did the game was gone. I don't think Yarren was touched once! Adams should of set the tone early with his presence but it wasn't there.

Growler wrote: Growler, calm down mate. The boys were physically exhausted the poor pricks, the energy used up just during the build up to GF is taxing, they threw everything at them and 10 min of footy killed us in the 2nd qtr.

Surely you are kidding
I'm guessing you spent more time talking to mates than watching the game??
I fully appreciate the lead up to the GF and the fact that we pushed through a massive number of weeks without a break - BUT -if we cant perform on the day then we shouldn't have been there.

Im not talking just about winning - but performing!!

We didn't just lose the game in a 'ten minute splash' - jeezeus where have you been all year... with our come backs - Lazarus risen from the dead results, last weeks magnificent game etc etc
No excuses here I am afraid - more than several players DID NOT PERFORM and there were errors made in the coaches box (never said before but sadly I have my doubts now)
You cant give up and several of the players at half time had done just that and it only took ten minutes back on the filed in the third Qtr to show it again - all the pump from the half time coaches spray/chat/play dissection had worn off and so had the oooommph

10 players cant win a game and when its against an outfit like $ubi ..its not going to be pretty
The unsung hero is Keunen 'again' - apparently playing with and through a Migraine !! well done mate.

Whatever, I know these boys like the back of my hand and we spent our tickets keeping up with them for a qtr and a half. Do you have any concept of the advantage of the 10 point players $ubi have ? Massive bodies, experience etc along with the current finals system, it all put paid to any comeback, just look at the identical score lines in the Colts and Dags ???

As far as the reports go the only one I want to see suspended is the knee drop, it's a pretty low and dangerous act. The rest of them should just be fines, the late hit on Deluca looked bad but it's a grand final and we all love big hits and he is a tuff nut and came back on.

Dropped the knee my arse, look at the footage and Tedesco came into stand the mark and knocked his head as Boland fell backward. Brownes hit was late and un warranted but brought a smile to thousands at the ground due to the fact it was sniper Deluca and the tackle against Yarran, thats footy, you see that in every game.

Agree Leedy with the Deluca hit and Yazz tackle but you must have watched a different video with the Boland incident, anyway it's done and dusted no damage done and we look forward to 2016, I hate it when the WAFL season ends, heading into footy withdrawal!!
