What a magnificent spectacle that was - a perfect game to showcase the WAFL , I see the Crackpipers even left out Jones in the end as well

Christ they should have let Perth play off they would have at least given us something decent

What happened to your Colts today freeze I would have thought they would have won that even accounting for big Luke being out?

not going to win too many games with your two key forwards kicking 1.8 between them BH....Strnadica at 199cm has kicked 33.12 this year....would of fancied Luke to of kicked a wee bit straighter than 1.8!.....but hey bad kicking is bad footy!

Went for all 3 games and enjoyed our close contests with EP and EF in colts and Reserves.
Walked out at 3 qtr time in the League game as it was a sham. WP had a training run against a PEEL reserves side made up of Amateurs.. Felt a bit sorry for those guys.
The resting of Jonesy and Bootsma at the last minute really made it a joke. :(

Good news is WP didnt have a hard game :) Lets hope it didnt take the edge off our side for next weeks game v $ubiaco... the 10 point club. Money talks.

Taking nothing off our guys as it was out of our control and is just another example of what a joke the WAFC is and how they are totally incompetent. There integrity and honesty are in question especially after the Interview on ABC with McHenry..

I still cannot believe him saying if WP make the finals CHN 7 will do a live broadcast of the reserves.. If WP reserves make the finals they will do the colts.

How petty is this. They are making the WAFL the laughing stock of the sporting world.
He also said if WP play with CHN9 logo on their jumper they will be fined. when asked how he said the fine will be taken out of their grant from the WAFC in 2016 e.g from the 600,000 given to each WAFL club..

91.3 commentators spoke of what Cam Shepard would say to these players after the game.
How would they feel. They have been used to create a situation. Guys who got dragged in. Ok a few might be happy that they got to play in a WAFL Final. It was suggest they would be told "thanks for turning up guys now go out tonight and have a few beers and get over it because most of you will not play any further Finals games.
Lets not blame these guys as they a victims and the BLAME must be put on the shoulders of the WAFC. Personally I dont think any footballer would enjoy being beaten by such a margin and I am sure they tried hard but were only pawns in a bigger game.

They also mentioned why shouldnt Appealthon be allowed considering the money goes to needy people and a charity.. It is not a conflict as the money earned goes to charity?

McHenry claims the WP CEO said he didnt think WP wouldnt make the finals he had a different view.. Gee funny McHenry thought WP would make the finals but the CEO at WP didnt... VERY HARD TO BELIEVE.

I have come to the conclusion this drama is not over and WP will take it to court.

As one poster said I would of rather enjoyed a game v Perth who at least would have a WAFL league side against us and busted their guts to win the game.

Its a Farking disgrace.

If you missed the WAFC interview with McHenry here it is again.. play it twice and you will once again see how pathetic they are

I went to Leederville Ocal yesterday to watch the SD colts and ressies game Cardy. At the gate on seeing it was a $20 cover charge to get in I asked if there was any discount for being a member of my WAFL club. The lady at the gate looked down at her paper work then replied yes but only if I had a current Eagles or Dockers membership. Still shaking my head in disbelief.

Mate your Swans membership should have been a discount as well.

Yep noticed the people on the gate in their nice shirts were not our usual gatekeepers and the stamp they gave you when you went out and wanted to come back said Perth Stadium Management. All very official.. Understand the money for the gate doesnt go to the club but to the WAFC. So no kickback for the Host ground there.

Do find your comment hard to swallow as WAFL members should get a discount as it is a WAFL game. :(

And lets not forget the changes they made for the Finals series in 2013.

WAFL clubs have been told that about $500,000 in cost savings have been identified, with $70,000 to come by axing a series of club allowances.

Clubs will no longer receive the finals allowance that was introduced in 2006, when semi and preliminary finals were moved from Subiaco Oval because of the prohibitive costs involved in staging WAFL matches there.

The finals allowance is about $56,000 - or $7000 for each team per finals match.

The decision to cut the allowance means that the team that plays three finals this season will have to find at least an extra $20,000 to pay its players - or nearly 10 per cent of its annual salary cap.

The commission will also cut a $14,000 zone allowance that was used primarily by Claremont (Kimberley) and Swan Districts (Pilbara) to service their regions.

South Fremantle president Haydn Raitt said clubs were disappointed about the cuts.

"It is pretty hard when you have to have your budgets in place at the start of the year only to be told that guaranteed amounts have been removed six months later," Raitt said.

I thought $20:00 was a bit steep too. IF it had gone to the club i probably would not have minded to be honest. I did as those on the gate if there was any ch7 memoribillia available though
Great day out in the sun, the ground looke a treat too.
Egg and bacon roll $6:00, top value!

I did a bit of research on tickets and the way I read it if you are a WAFL member you should of paid $15

From the WPFC website it states WAFL members get concession.
As you know if you get there in Season games for the Colts you get in free but changed for finals as the club does not run the gate.

From the WPFC Website

West Perth Memberships DO NOT give Colts parents admittance into the ground during the finals, however the $15 WAFL Member ticket price applies.

Come on Cam dont bring yourself down to the Level of the WAFC

Brendon was on WAFL WORLD on Wednesday and said he was looking forward to the game on Sunday v WP... Medical advice.. Mate you rested them.

www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/legal-threats...20150905-gjfspq.html

In part

Peel coach Cam Shepherd defended his decision not to play Brendon Jones and Josh Bootsma in yesterday’s 109-point qualifying final belting at the hands of West Perth, insisting the pair were ruled out on medical advice.

The Thunder were already severely depleted for their first final in their 19-year history at HBF Arena yesterday after their AFL alignment with Fremantle meant they lost a dozen players during the week.

Then captain Jones and vice-captain Bootsma were late withdrawals for yesterday’s clash, further weakening the second-string side, which included five league debutants.

And we have

Cam Shepherd bristled during the pre-season when it was put to him that he would be coaching the Fremantle reserves rather than the Peel league team this season.

Both descriptions were wrong.

Shepherd was in charge of a virtual Peel reserves outfit yesterday that made a mockery of the club’s maiden finals appearance by handing West Perth a 109-point victory and a berth in the second semifinal.

au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/sport/a/294531...hrough-the-nonsense/

David Parkinson former SD President from the SD football club said it all

Peel Thunder’s dire predicament of having to play a B-team in the club’s maiden finals appearance has left an ugly taint on the WAFL competition, according to former Swan Districts president David Parkinson.

This has tainted the competition. You’ve got to ask did Peel and East Perth get there (to finals) on their merits?

“In my view, the answer is quite simply no because they had all the facilities afforded to them that the other WAFL clubs never had.

“I feel terribly sorry for the Peel members and the CEO John Ditchburn, who I have the greatest amount of respect for, because they’re going to get smashed by West Perth and their chances of taking out the ultimate dream are going to be very, very slim.

Other comments

Subiaco chief executive Peter Capes said the situation with Peel damaged the competition’s integrity, but it was not an unexpected situation.

South Fremantle president Haydn Raitt called for the alignment system to be scrapped when the existing model ended in 2018.
