Cardy wrote: LOL... Yeh it was a bit one sided.. including 2 50 directly in front and a 100 mtr penalty (50x2) resulting 3 goals and a couple of soft ones in front. Do the sums yourself

1 of the umps should been wearing a SD jumper..
Having said that we missed 3 kicks in general play from right in front.
Looks like about 6 goals to me and Swans won by 3... Shit they robbed EF of a finals berth as well... No change for us in ladder position.

SD 28 Frees For WP 19 From WAFL online

Razor 4 Turn overs I saw.. Must of had a bit of a colour vision problem..
Sure it wont happen again...

And tell e which one of those 50`s in the league game weren't there? Undisciplined from WP cost them in the end. But I am sure you rectify that this week in a well deserved second semi, more deserved than us on this years consistency

Mark, from reading Cardy's post, I think WP are more worried about Cl and EP.....sounds like WP had SD measure but the umps gifted SD a couple of soft goals....seems like the umps really wanted SD in the finals, so they can hurt SDFC properly this weekend v EP in the 1st semi at Steel Blue.....like the way the umps think......

They didn't have our measure in any way mate, have a listen to Judgies assessment after the game, WP were lucky to be within 5 goals in the end but of course they were half strength so that is cancelled out. In the end the best side won on the day as I am sure will be the case for all games from here on in. Best of Luck to SD and WP but worst of luck to Cl and EP

SwanDog you say SD had WP measure, Cardy says the umps gifted SD the win.....I believe both of you guys......however as much as Mark tells Cardy to worry less about SD and more about going out in straight sets.... I have no doubt Cardy would say to Mark, he should be more worried about an AFL laden EP side, replicating what an EF AFL laden side did to SD last year in the prelim at Steel Blue.......the similarities are so obvious......finals game, lose and your season is finished....Steel Blue, one side having plenty of AFL listed players and the other very few.......and one team beginning with the word East and the other Swan......sounds like a major case of de je vu!!

i'm not worried at all, EP the better side and the better coach..
like last year against East Freo i dont expect us to win and am happy enough to make the 4 as with Harding coach we start 5 goals down every week..

Interesting observation, Mark. Everybody (including media commentators on TV and radio)is saying that Harding completely outcoached Monaghan on Saturday whilst the rumblings at East Perth are that group is split 3 ways, the AFL players, the group that like Daws (Lee, Smith) and a significant number of the true EP players that can't stand him.

outcoaching Monaghan doesnt get a tick from me...he's like Harding, a finals failure at this stage..
i rate Webb and Daws, i dont rate any other coach at all so by rights we should be able to beat every other side bar EP and CL and that is where i see us this year, hopefully Harding proves me wrong and wins 3 in a row..
WP would be hoping the same with Monaghan, good luck to whoever wins it as long as it isnt EP Eagles..

Out of interest Mark why do you rate Webb?....he inherited a squad which was top notch....yes he has done all he can by winning a flag etc, but to me he reminds me of Scotty Watters & Simon McPhee..... since Subi and Cl one has inherited a St Kilda squad and achieved what?......the other has achieved what at Sandringham?......

A coach lives and dies by his squad....I reckon none of the likes of Clarkson, Scott, Longmire etc could lift the likes of Melbourne and GWS any higher from where they are now......who would you like to coach SDFC Mark?.....besides Webb and Dawson?

I think Harding is due some credit here. He has coached Swans to 2 finals series in three years, continuing a successful era under Dawson. Lets face it Swans have a pretty patchy history in their nearly 80 years ( many years in the wilderness between premierships) and to make finals 5 out of the last 6 years is outstanding and only the early 80's is better than the times we are going through at the moment.

Harding also makes himself available every week on the radio show on 91.3 and doesn't shirk issues or dodge hard questions. I am not an apologist for Harding and I have been critical of him when he has made bad decisions but I think his 3 years of coaching needs to be looked at in the context of the history of the club and supporters are now expecting the team to make finals every year instead of just hoping. Personally I am happy for him to continue next year.

As for umpires I find it highly amusing that some West Perth supporters have been implying on this thread that umpires influenced the result on Saturday, when people on this site have been torching Swans fans all year for doing exactly the same thing ( with justification in some cases).

Funny thing you'll find is that the team that is in front, harder at the ball and is more desperate generally seems to end up with more free kicks. Who knows whether those 50 metre penalties were justified or not ? We don't know unless we were out on the ground. All I know was that Swans were the better team on the day last Saturday, umpires decisions or not.

Anyway in 3 weeks i really hope either one of us will have the cup and not the Ferrals or Claremont

30-19 (fact) The 100m penalty wouldnt have been enough to get in anyway !!! The flags all wrapped up for Swans mate, Ames and the critics have backed that up.
