I have no doubt that West Perth will be very hard to beat on Saturday because they will want to go into the 2nd semi in winning form. Swans will have to play as well if not better than they did against the Sharks.

As for Tallen's comments, I accept that they may have been taken out of context and may be used as motivation by Duckworth, but my immediate reaction was that it was great for a player to speak his mind for a change instead of the usual sanitised 'media spin' drivel that we particularly get fed by AFL players in interviews. Statements like
"they are a great team" (GWS)
"We knew they were going to come out hard"
"we'll take things one week at a time"
"we're not getting ahead of ourselves"
YAWN!

Good on you Tallen for stating you have ambitions for your team. You may be proved wrong and end up with egg on your face but who cares you are creating interest in the finals

Yeah agreed..but having said that if he did actually say that in context the bald reality is it is probably the truth going on wins v Claremont the past 2 years and the dominant history Swans have over Claremont in Grand Finals. But of course we may not even get that chance yet! In 2011 Claremonts biggest challenge was East Fremantle and they finished 5th
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

Good post loved it Mikeh.. ;) Yep I know its early in the week.. How about these

Only one team came out to play tonight and it wasnt us

Injuries are Hurting us and our team tonight had key players missing

The other team adapted to the conditions better

I think the 9 goals to one the other team kicked in the 2nd qtr beat us. (Sorry EF)

The players didnt play to my match plan and they paid for it

The other teams defence was just to good for us

Tonight we let ourselves down. We didnt play as a team

The umpires were certainly not up to scratch and some bad calls went against us (SHIT sorry Swannies)

Our guys played their guts out but thinks just didnt go our way

We had a couple of rookies in who just were not experienced enough against their Senior opponents (oops coach)

The weather certainly favoured the other team tonight. We dont play well in the wet.

We have just gotta start beating THESE BETTER TEAMS?

The other team certainly showed on any given night any team can win a game of Football even when they are bottom on the ladder!

Its a shame our Forwards kicked 16 points and they didnt have their kicking boots on tonight. Cant believe we had 30 scoring shots to their 15 and lost!

I would rather not talk about the game today and some big changes will be made.

We couldnt maintain 4 qtrs of football.

We let them win the game by making to many mistakes !!!!

I apologize to the supporters and promise we will do better next week.

I found our jumper colours were very close tonight which confused the players and the umpires!!

I think last weeks game took to much out of us and enable the other team being fresh to makes us run out of legs.

The Better team tonight lost the game..

Its going to be a tuff Game for Swans on Saturday - football

Ok ok thats enough.. Oh a joke for the road

I met a fairy today who granted me one wish. "I want to live forever," I said.
"Sorry," said the fairy, "I'm not allowed to grant wishes like that."
"Fine," I said, "I want to die when Perth win the WAFL Grandfinal."
"You crafty Prick!" said the fairy.

I guess that's why the poms peed on the oval then mikeh?.... to create interest for the down under ashes.....TBH any actions/talk like that does smack of arrogance and disrespect for the opposition......I reckon if it had been a Paul Johnson or Jason Salecic saying the exact thing, you SD boys would of thought what an arrogant tosser.....same as you thought the poms were arrogant for doing a piss ring on the oval!

Cardy what makes me laugh mate is that a lot of folk on this site whinge and cry like bitches to the mods for some comments being disrespectful and arrogant...you actually spat the dummy yourself on FG and left in a huff because you were miffed with some disrespectful comments......and now you are whinging because folk don't speak their mind? :silly:

....it's banter and actually I personally think all Ames was doing was creating some banter, throwing it out there, no probs.....but.....if SD don't make the finals, then yeah Ames will look pretty stupid, but I bet a million dollars the SD fans won't be blaming Ames or the players for missing out, it will be the umps fault.....and you guys will spend the whole off season telling all n sundry how SD were the only team who could of stopped Cl doing a three peat....just like us EF fans thought the same back in 2011! ;)

wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if WP beat Cl in the 2nd semi and Cl get beaten in the prelim......hopefully for Ames sake it's SD doing that and not EP

Bill has been signed on for a further 3 years in the West today.
Cant begrudge him that and all the best to him and the Club

In part
Bill Monaghan is set to become the longest-serving coach in West Perth's 128-year history after signing a new three-year contract with the club this week.

The Falcons offered Monaghan a deal that will see his tenure extended to 2016, marking eight years at the helm since taking over from Todd Curley.

The legendary Stan "Pops" Heal coached the club for six years from 1947.

Monaghan's reappointment followed an extensive review of club operations and the football department, which culminated in the coach making a detailed presentation to the board last month.

He presented his blueprint for the future of the club, including game styles, junior programs and areas in need of improvement.

The former Subiaco and Peel defender, who played 118 WAFL games, has guided the Falcons to second spot on the ladder for the second time in three years and boasts a 56 per cent winning record in his five seasons to date.

Cardy was this atricle cut & pasted from the Worst by any chance?
I no longer read that rubbish of a fish & chip wrapper due to its incorrect information published day after day but it would look like yet another balls up by them as I am sure Monaghan played over 200 WAFL games at Subi & Freo's Reserves!

In fairness to the West BH at least they cover WAFL on a regular basis.
Shayne Hope does a good job and is a Host on WAFL WORLD Wednesday 91.3 at 7pm along with Chris Pike. They do this show for Nothing.
Good supporters of the WAFL.

Good supporters of the WAFL.

That is to be commended on their behalf mate the reporting of the WAFL that is but surely they must also be more diligent in their reporting of "facts" eg- Monaghan's WAFL game tally, Embley supposedly kicking the winning goal for Swans vs Peel when it was in fact Jamie Bennell ..etc etc etc!
