You should be thinking a long game. You put a question to most people like that they are going to say no but if you actually do it in good faith on the basis you want people in your area to be able to identify with the club and feel a part of it then I think you will reap what you sow very quickly in terms of supporter support and then financial support will follow if local business recognise more locals are supporting the club.

DD, we were WPFC T/A Joondalup Falcons for a couple of seasons and it didn't create any Corporate revenue and it was revisited again 5 or 6 years ago and a consultancy firm engaged and local Business again didn't commit. We are talking substantial sponsorship, not your Mum & Dad corner store that would contribute $500, there were a few around like that. Would your Perth FC change its name for no apparent reason ???

You NEVER called yourself Joondalup. Maybe on paper you did but you never officially told the WAFC and the media that you changed your name to the Joondalup Falcons did you?

Fuck me DD, its like pulling teeth having a discussion with you. Surely you remember we were "Joondalup Falcons" for a couple of seasons when we moved to Joondalup. The name was actually on all TV news, particularly print media. I recall one paper would JF and another would have WP.

Not that I recall Loopy, when was that? Must have been mid-late 90's when I'd lost interest. Never went to a game in 97 when we last made finals.

Maybe when you did it was too soon and the locals weren't ready to embrace a local WAFL team or maybe it divided the club and whinging member's forced the club to buckle.

But I seem to recall a massive turnout when you adopted a pommy theme for heritage round was it? Did you wear red, white and blue that day? About 5 or 6 years ago? Your club needs to identify itself with the kids growing up in the suburbs. West Perth only confuses them, how can they identify with the name West Perth?

DD, no kids identify themselves with any WAFL club anymore, AFL is forced down there throat. The only kids that do are the ones the go through the development program, Colts and then to Seniors, the others that don't pursue footy are only AFL fans.

That’s what I’m talking about, kids that get into development squads must ask their parents why are they called West Perth? The parents would probably struggle to answer it.

I have suggested in the past on here Northern Districts which would be a true reflection of their location and who they represent. SA has Central Districts, we have Swan Districts. The pommies would probably identify with Butler or Brighton. Butler was called Brighton Beach Estate when it was being developed, in fact I had a deposit on a block in Brighton Beach Estate around 2005 I think and the sales rep told us the locals want the suburb name officially known as Brighton Beach, not Butler.

I reckon red, white and blue vertical stripes, the colours of the pommie flag would resonate Ark. They'll be forgotten as the garlic munchers and be known as the Yorkshire Puddings. I could see all those mum and dad fish and chip shop owners jumping onboard with their $500 sponsorships.

many years ago there was a junior team in the Subi district called Northern Districts who wore Footscray jumpers.
back then not many junior clubs past Warwick who at one stage had the biggest junior club in Australia and provided a lot of players for Subiaco.
Northern Districts would be a good option or the Northern Falcons ?

We will still be a better club than Perth regardless what you call us
