Surely the WAFC should be be able to put pressure on government be it local or state to come up with a solution that gives WP the type of freedom most WAFL clubs enjoy with their local councils.

Your right it is not an easy option but I was looking around for a facility that could cope with a crowd and paying customers and there is not much abt apart from the Wanneroo showgrounds which again is used a lot.

The option could be train elsewhere and play at one or other for home games. Then there is the option of using Leederville as the home ground and play on the alternate day to EP/Subi until a more suitable venue is found!

The trouble is in the mean time the club loses sponsorship and a home base and that is not a good outcome for them!

Correct Grump, the only ground other than Arena Joondalup in the WP Zone/Northern Corridor even remotely capable of hosting WAFL footy is the Wanneroo Showgrounds which is home to the Wanneroo AFC although there is no Grandstand, Media & Coaches box etc.
It must be remembered Kingsway Reserve is now in Subiaco's zone since the absurd decision to give Ellenbrook to EP and other changes to appease SU some 6 or 7 years ago!

Buckley's chance of using Wanneroo Show grounds.
Wanneroo football club are the tenants in winter, huge juniors, 4 Senior teams, Colts and Ladies team leaves WP in its wake when it comes to running a club professionally.

I lived in Wanneroo for 16 years. There’s a huge park just off Dundebar Rd called Garden Park set amongst acerage properties. Used to take the dog there with my son and kick the footy around. Might be an option worth investigating. Have a sit down with the Lord Mayor of Wanneroo.

So what happens to the tax payer funded $8 mill ++ premises gifted to WPFC?

SD have had a big redevelopment in the wings at Basso for some time, if Joondy do have to move because of the VW bloodsuckers maybe look at co-tenanting at Basso, Both clubs seem to get on very well, ground sharing is almost a must for the WAFL going forward, has worked very well for Subi, EP and Vincent Council, and Perth sharing with WC has been a big financial windfall for the D's.

SS, clearly not what happened to the tax payer money that $ubi pocketed for the seating arrangement for over 20 years, we won't see any financial benefit unfortunately.

Loopy....explain to me how the Subi seats deal was tax payer funded given they had to buy the seats from the WAFC and on-sell them the same as WCE and Freo had to do.

BC were you not 'gifted' the Subiaco Members Area seats in the 2 Tier Stand pocket at Subiaco Oval, the ones with the signage up Subiaco Members Only in maroon & gold?

That's not my understanding BH....Subi was allocated 500 seats or thereabouts but had to pay for them and on-sell as part of a game day package which included the seats, lunch, drinks and a guest speaker. Towards the end it started losing money as costs rose and competition between Subi, WCE and Freo to sell packages became even harder. The last year or so of the arrangement saw Subi giving seats back to the WAFC as it wasn't economical. The club made a good living out of it for several years so no complaints, but it was a commercial arrangement like any other.
