I agree. A contract is a legal document. Surely it is not within the jurisdiction of a WAFL arbitrator to judge on it’s validity or on the grievances of the parties to it.
If PFC stand firm on no release from the contract then end of story IMO.
As an aside, Leggett has claimed the club has breached the terms of the contract.
Could he be breaching the contract by not attending pre-season training ?

A contract is an agreement and is not necessarily written.

Perth have made a strong and entirely understandable stand against Cody and good on them for doing so, but maybe it's time to cut this bloke free and grab the $20k as the commish might not rate this bloke as highly as EF do and you'll walk away with maybe half that. If the money's not an issue then you obviously have plenty and can lure a better player to your club and move on. Same goes for EF, if they have $20k to splash out on a player like Cody then if their attempt fails they can do the same and chase someone else. Only loser may be Cody who stands out for a year or goes bush.

PFC have said no because Cody has a Contract!!!!!
FMD what part of that don't you understand????

It concerns me that this WAFC dude doesn't understand that either.

As you would know SS you don't replace a 1 point player who is under contract (and rated to some degree) with a 1 point player.
It takes points.

Unless this Taylor fella is a lawyer and has a very good understanding of what constitutes a breach I can't see how he can rule one way or the other. btw..is he any relation to Gavin I wonder?

Contract law in itself is not all that difficult as it has seven elements which must be satisfied to be legally binding ….where it gets a bit murkier is when you have a legal contract what is a breach and what are the remedies? You'd need to be pretty clued up and experienced to start making decisions in that area. I'm not suggesting for one second that Taylor isn't qualified but just making an observation.

Experienced WAFL arbitrator and employment lawyer. Would be totally across employment contract law.

Previously ruled against Perth FC as WAFL arbitrator several years ago when they refused to clear Zucconi as they believed he was still contracted to Perth.

It would seem that the delay in handing down the decision may be because the situation is not as clear cut as some believe or perhaps it may be to give clubs time to come to an agreement. Whatever happens we can all get on with our lives and live with his determination. Thank heavens this saga is coming to an end.

Yes, he is qualified to give advice or opinions on contracts.
And that is where we have been all along. Is there a valid contract between PFC and Cody Leggett? If the answer is “yes” ....... it will be MRP or NF Oval for Cody in 2020.
