Smokey and 30 year, I guess we can discuss our various recruiting needs at season's end. However, we are clearly a long way off where we need to be and I fear we need more recruits than we can realistically attract. It is a real concern that if you did a ladder for the last 10 games, we would be second last. We have won 3 with a percentage of about 74. Hardly the sort of form to take into finals.

Freeze, you post the same thing all the time. Yes, if you go through our recruits for the last decade you will find some decent players. Yes, if the Mortons, Bossong, Young, JKT and Graham had all played together in the same team for 4 seasons, we would have had some success. However, we never have more than 2-3 at any one time. This year is a good example. We have one player from Eastern States, Cary, who is barely league standard. Subi only have two, Delahunty and Kitchin, but they are elite. From other clubs we have Lague, Jones, Yeo, Dennis, Bryan, Payne, Giblett and Coniglio. Of those, only Jones and Yeo were wanted by their club of origin and only those two, plus Giblett, are quality. Lague, Bryan, Payne and Coniglio are workmanlike and Dennis is not up to it. Subi: Newton, Lockyer, Litherland, Marsh, Powell, Sokol, Rohde and Heal. Pretty much all in the very good/elite class.

And yes, Freeze, it is all about money. Nothing else, just money. What, you think Subi have cracked the secret to footy success that no other club has figured out? They recruit elite players. They keep players at the club. If players retire or get drafted (no-one leaves Subi for any other reason) they get replaced with someone of similar ability. They manage to ward off all efforts from other clubs to sign those players. They manage all this within the salary cap, so we're told.

Well said Ted. Hopefully after a change of president at the start of the season after settling in and having a good look from the inside Bob Shields can implement some strategies to address our on field weaknesses.

We’ve got a lot going for us. We showed the last 3 matches against the top 3 teams we can match them in the midfield and our backline stands up well though we’ve been hit by injuries to the backline. We need a genuine tap ruckman and some muscle and goal kicking craft up front.
Get on your bike.

As an outside observer fellas I thought some of our Eyres tap work in the ruck last night was outstanding and set up some clean clearances for the likes of Yeo, Jones, Leggett etc and had the Subi mids on the hop the only problem was the Subi defence are very good at reading the play early and they virtually intercept marked most of those long balls in.

Agreed BH but we need more from him around the ground.
And his skills around the ground see teammates avoid giving him the ball.

Glaring deficiencies and embarrassing to watch on TV.

Bh he was his tap work was as good as I’ve seen from him but sadly he lacks that around the ground grunt that can hurt opposition.

I reckon we also need an outside pacy mid that knows how to hit the scoreboard along with the other obvious recruits that have been mentioned.
