Lovely post Lucifer....another Perth fan who wears his heart on his sleeve....though being a WAFL fan I didn't think it was a fan to have opinions and ask questions about other WAFL clubs other than my own?....not too sure how healthy it would be confining myself to JUST to have views and opinions on my own club.....but hey if you love the insular life then mate, than so be it.....[/quote]

I think I needed to use the word 'problem' instead......these early morning NZ starts are killing my grammar!!

Demons Forever wrote: Interesting to note that Eyres & Murray shared the hit out honours with Seaby & Andrews.

Hit outs were 46 a piece with Eyres 27 & Murray 18 with Chance having 1 vs Seaby 32 & Andrews 14. Also did as much around the ground as the Claremont pair.

Eyres is improving each week and he & Murray are providing a fair share of it for our midfield. Over time I think these 2 will turn into a formidable ruck combination.

Our midfield continues to work hard with Ali Smith, O'Sullivan & Hodge giving us plenty of drive, they are so hard at it.

O'Sullivan challenged yesterday at 3/4 time and responded accordingly.

Meat balls, close to best on ground, his reading of the play is sensational. How the hell he was playing reserves at Werribee has got me beat. Our intelligence on him was spot on and he has been a valuable addition to the side. He is as tall as most forwards in the competition but runs all day.

Nice to have Busher back, he will be better for the run and showed his versatility by going back in the second half when we were without Kane.

Chance continues to rack up the possessions but he had some awful clangers which I'm sure he would rather forget.

Just a few mistakes under pressure probably was the difference in the end despite there being a separate rule book for Claremont. They really do get some soft touches.

Well done guys, 2 weeks to get back on the park and hopefully a bounce back against Subi.

I think on the day although there stats may have been like for like in hit outs the Claremont rucks were more effective, not by much but enough to make a difference, the Claremont pair also kicked 3 goals between them and took more marks..
I do agree however that Eyres is improving and like a few of his teammates his form has surprised me.
I would like to see us with another tall option other than our rucks as key forwards.

Risol was really good in defence, hes that key defender we have needed for years!

You cant win them all and its no disgrace going down by 5 points on Claremonts home turf however i do expect us to rebound and beat Subi away from home.

out of interest how tall is Eyres?....the guy seems very underated, seems like a real competitor in the mould of WP current ruck in Keunen....those sort of guys are the ones you need to take your hat off too...don't get any of the spoils but do a fantastic job for the team.....

Eyres would be around 193cm. He has a good leap and uses his body well in the ruck contests. He still a work in progress but is learning fast and starting to have a good understanding with the midfielders.
The pleasing aspect of his game is that he is starting to become more active around the ground and picking up handy possessions.
Murray is 195cm.
Finally, we are playing 2 ruckmen. That is something that has been sadly lacking in recent years. The unlucky player atm is Leuendekers who just can't force his way into the side. Also about 195/196cm, I think, and he can play. Still very young and will develop further

Yeh there are a few unsung ruckmen going around like Lammie, Keunan, Eyes, Tighe etc, whist all the accolades go gto Johnson, Seaby and Andrews, even if they have had their colours lowered

I think Eyres & Murray broke pretty much even against Seaby & Andrews.

Eyres has a great leap and wins more than his fair share.

They have both done a great job so far this year.

I would say that the changing of the guard is not far around the corner, ruckman wise and for who will be the top dog's in this comp for 2013. We need to expose more of our younger up and comers against the the so called better players, quickest way to learn especially with game replays to go over afterwards. The season is only 6 games old and has shown some real stars are coming through, the next 6 games will be even more interesting.

Smokey quite surprised you haven't mentioned that ex EF figjam called 211jnr....came to Perth when you guys were devoid of talls last year and now he is in a very long queue.....whilst EF ruck queue is very short indeed......though saying that, 211jnr struggled at Bullcreek and Leeming when available for them last year......funny how it can be a famine one moment then a feast the next.

Freezn, you are welcome to have him back.

Can't run.

Can't ruck.

Can't mark.

Can't kick. (doesn't get any).

What can he do, do you know?
:P :P :P :P :P

Yes they have both done a great job this year and were serviceable again on Saturday and yes i agree they broke even in ruck taps but i would have the Claremont rucks just on top for the game for my reasons stated earlier, the Claremont ruck pair took more marks and booted 3 goals(our rucks didnt goal) and in a 5 point ball game those 3 goals proved to be a huge stat.
