PN, they will say "two years ago we enticed Clint Jones, Angus Graham and Spencer White"
CJ has been a good recruit for us and he has agreed to remain with the club for 2018.
Graham was a huge disappointment especially how he walked out of the club on the eve of the 2017 while still under contract.
White suffered injuries in his first season and was restricted again in 2017.
Then they will say "we took a decision last season to run with the young kids from the Colts but did recruit some (ressies) players from other clubs."
Result was a predictable wooden spoon.
This pre-season...so far no comment on intentions re recruits. Sunday will be their chance to tell us how different things will be in 2018.

The FRANKSTON FC has just been rebooted by the AFLVictoria - this has resulted in the requirement for a full list restock , and it is in the process of draining just about every league of topliners including delisters from the AFL
It is affecting recruiting both in SA & WA
And on the SANFL - there has been a major exodus of players from the end of the 2017 season for various reasons & this will also deeply affect the WAFL clubs as you would expect.
There just won't be a magic box of players available this year

Yes you're correct in relation to Frankston Southerner...I thought we might lose Kitchin and Delahunty and you Hockey to them but fortunately all 3 have recommitted.

No doubt Schofield would have had quiet word in Delahunty & Kitchin's ear about how "well resourced" $ubi are to make them both stay hey BC?! *wink wink nudge nudge*

Only after some reassuring "resourceful" words from Schofield no doubt!

Smokester compared to a lot of other clubs recruiting Jones, White and Graham was blooding good going, along with the likes of Bateman, Cook, Davis, Bevan, Reimers, Morton x3 and Spaanderman over recent seasons all AFL recruits..... .besides Subi and SF you guys are next best in recruiting numbers by a long way on paper.....as for the young kids, pretty sure I read a load of posts after Perth's colts made finals in 2016 how excited you guys were about seeing these exciting youngsters play league in 2017.....besides obviously communicating better with you Perth boys......not too sure what else more you guys actually want the club to do in terms of recruiting....

you wanted a quality mature ruckman....you got Graham.....you wanted quality mids you got the likes of Jones, Bevan, Bateman, Cook and a top ten draft pick in Cale Morton.....the club got a reserves player from EF and turned him into a Sandover Medallist.....you recruited an AFL premiership winning forward in Mitch Morton....you wanted decent KP players and your club got Jarryd Morton and Spencer White......plus medium forwards in Reimers and Stack plus an AA defender in Davis.....not sure the club is to blame if some of these guys weren't of stronger character, less injury prone or mentally fragile..just how the dice rolls sometimes...on paper they came with worthy CVs....far better than a De LaHunty, Boland, Kitchen, Hockey, Bolton et al CV wouldn't you agree?.......give the club credit for atleast getting these guys to the club in the first place......be far worse if they hadn't....just luck of the draw sometimes...

Every club could probably come up with a recruiting list like that over a period of time.
I really don't see what your point is because even though a Bevan was recruited what else was required that we didn't pick up that season?
ditto for a most of those players you named they all filled a need but didn't solve the rest of the voids that existed at that time.

Also on that list at least 5 of those players were "one year players" and one recruit has been mostly injured for the two years he's been at the club.
The PFC was never going to play finals and win a flag with that list.

What else could the club do?
Recruit players more evenly over the seasons instead of this recruit this season and not the next season with player losses and recruits not hanging around,it's chase your tail stuff.

It would have been exciting for some of those kids had the club done any decent recruiting for the 2017 season, they didn't and the rest is history, another spoon.

Will Perth win a flag with Clint Jones on their list? Probably not as he will be 33/34 by the commencement of 2018 and there be a lot more list management required to play finals, let alone win a flag.
Is he is still there in a leadership/development role and it is beyond just playing that may have justification, curious if this is the case.
Otherwise, looking for others may be a more considered decision and better value for money now (again, he was a great get 2 years ago).

Not too sure the club knew Graham, Davis, Reimers and the Morton boys were gonna piss off after 12 months when they signed on....did you Perth fans know?.....as for White's injuries not too sure the club knew that was going to happen either.....crystal ball is a wonderful thing I guess.....my point is the club has attracted "on paper" credentialled players.....a lot more than you Perth fans let on....just unlucky for you guys these guys were weak pricks who failed to live up to high expectations....mentally or physically

as for that comment regarding other clubs having a similar recruiting list over the years....naagh don't see who EF have recruited with better AFL CVs than the guys you have....we have just got lucky with the likes of Rob Young, ROB, BOB and Hampson to a degree have hung around and given the club some quality service....but none came with AFL profiles like Perths lot....Watson has been EF highest profile recruit in years.....and McGough probably before that......but I guess as an EF fan I feel my club hasn't recruited enough to stay competitive with the likes of SF Subi etc.....hopefully next year I am proven wrong....

I wouldn't say Graham. The Mortons,Reimers(flamboyant yes) came with great AFL cv's in fact most on here ridiculed the recruiting of the Mortons.
I don't know how good recruiting a one hit wonder(Morton and his gf day with the Swans),recruiting an orange booted Reimers that over his career was more cold than hot,the other Morton that's better known for running away from a player or even recruiting Leon who was chasing the big bucks for the year.
End of the day someone imo didn't do there proper homework whether that was club on player or player on club.

Yes we have recruited some beauties along the way none better than Young and Bevan.

Wouldn't it have been great if we had Bevan,Young and a few others in the team in the one season where it could have made a difference to our onfield fortunes.
