It would be a better move if we gave him what he needs.

I would have given him 1 year not 2.
4th year next season and I would expect to see finals.

Well it is better than going back to the well and starting again. He has tightened them up defensively. Like you say, give him the cattle and who knows what might happen?

I agree.. this is a good move. He is a very good coach IMO. If we are serious about finals in 2018
we must give him the cattle he needs. Do that and also get some of all these long term injuries to first 22 players out of the way then I think it is realistic outlook.

Article in this morning's paper suggests that the Club thinks that the cattle we have plus senior players coming back from injury will take us to finals next year.

Surely this cannot be the attitude of people in charge at the Club.

If that is what the club thinks then they might as well lock the place up and throw away the key, bring in the demolition people and pull the place down.
Nothing about this club has changed for decades...except the date of course.

Yep, agree with all of that to be honest. The board seems to have it the wrong way around. If improvement was to come from the present list it will be from the younger players becoming better league footballers. How much improvement has Jones got?

I am sure there is improvement in some of the younger players.
But there are glaring deficiencies.
Everybody can see that except those in charge.

The point is AR that they are talking about finals in 2018. Even with the injured players back on the track, the current squad will not achieve that objective.
What is required is a top class ruckman, a key forward capable of 60+ goals a season, a tall defender, and a tough hard at it midfielder with mongrel (a Devan Perry type will suit).
Tall shopping list I know but that is what it will take.
