Lawrence is one who should certainly be moved on.
10 points, you have got to be joking.

Certainly some list cloggers there that should be moved on.

3-5 point players need to be better than any 1 point player you already have at the club.
Im sure we have local players equal to or better than a few on that list of DF's.

Imo if you are a 10 point player then you should be in the top bracket of players and first picked every week.
Lawrence as a 10 point player couldnt make an impression at Peel he was never going to be any better with us than he was at Peel.
He went from one struggling team to another and is not up to the standard a 10 point player needs to be.

I totally agree with comments here regarding points. If we are seriously going to climb up the ladder we cannot afford list cloggers.
If it hasn't been done yet (and it should already have been done) we need to do a serious audit of our list and make some quick smart decisions in regard to our senior list before it is too late.
DF of your list only Latch, Tropo, and Wolfy are worth their points though Johnston is a handy depth player IMO.
Mills? The jury will be out on that one but on the surface 5 points is a big call.

A Sandover medalist and a runner uo of the JJ Liston trophy in our midfield next year.
How good is that?

Has anybody heard how Brett Hodge is?
He is still on our list so I take it he is still living in hope.

DF I agree with what you said about spending points on players that are going to make a difference. This is especially relevant for players that are 10 points in value.

So far this offseason we have spent points on a ruckman and a midfielder, two positions that we all identified over the season that needed filling.

Whilst we are undermanned down there and could do nicely with a Darren Rumble or Tallan Ames type of player down back I think our defence more often than not does the best it can.

As has often been said on the Perth thread quite often we have robbed Peter to pay Paul. This means that IMO some players get looked on less favourably than others. I think Brent Latch is a good promising key defender but without anyone else down there David Johnson gets left to take the other key forward. I like the way Johnno plays, honest and you know what you are going to get. But IMO he is more suited to a role as a third tall that can float across the back 50 and stand in front of the leading full forward and fill the space.

Another factor was that the midfield struggled last year. We often didn't get first go from stoppages and clearances and other midfields were able to over power us. Also our skill level wasn't up to standard. How many times did we turn the ball over and then get caught out as the opposition countered.

With the addition of a ruckman in Graham and midfielders in Jones and even Jacobs, I'm expecting the midfield to not be so easily beaten next season and the defence not to be put under so much pressure.

Jones also won the Sandringham Best & Fairest this year.

Have to agree DF. Tropo, McKenna, White, Jones, Wolfy, Sinclair with other options eg Jacobs and Leggett. Plenty of hardness and run in that lot. Whitey is virtually a recruit as the word had been that he wasn't playing on in 2016 due to work commitments with the Fire Brigade.
The hard running of blokes like Wolfy, McKenna, and Sinclair will add a lot of potency.
I hope that Sinclair has got his body right. He has done it tough for too long but if he is fit he will be a huge asset. He may well go back to his original role of a running half back.
The word over the past season or so has been that Hodgey probably not play footy again. Last season it was painfully obvious that he had lost much of his conditioning and it would be a huge task for him to build his body up again for WAFL footy. I hope that I am wrong. If he can make a comeback he would only add more firepower to that midfield.

We do it too often.
You must spend points on players who are going to make a difference.
Look at David Johnston been with us for 3 seasons still 3 points, I think originally 5.
He's now played 43 league games and I'm not sure he is making the impact he should.
Current points:
Ashley Boyes 2, impact? I ran into Ash and he said that he will get through a full pre season and be very ready for the new season, basedd on what I saw of him in Colts and Ressies before being injured I reckon you have a B+ player that will give you a good return.
Rowan Brookes 3, impact?I have little faith in his ability other than being an average ressies player.
Toby Giannati 5, expensive, impact?
Brent Latch 3, developing
Kelvin Lawrence 10, impact?, very expensive reserves player
Stephen Mills 5, impact?, we'll see but I doubt it
Jacob Payne 3, impact?
Aidan Tropiao 5, impact player absolutely, astute recruiting
Brett Wolfenden 7, out of game for 3 years, played League - yes,

I believe there is probably over 20 points that could have been spent in a better manner which could have made an impact.

Am I being harsh, don't know when it comes to points and salary cap I'm not sure we get value for money.

We have been a dumping ground in the past, it needs to change if we are serious.

Will that change if we start winning games hopefully.

Some of the above players could have been covered by developing from within.
Freeing up points and money for impact players that would take us where we want to go.

This is just MHO.

We live in a time where intelligent people are being silenced so stupid people won't be offended

Ashley didn't have a full preseason with us this year. I wouldn't mind seeing what he can do with one under his belt.

Would be very difficult for him to find a regular spot midfield. ? too small for any other role - small forward perhaps but IMO a handy ressies player only.
