So far so good Smokey. Still a long way to go though but the early signs are that we are finally recruiting for needs and not just for the sake of it. We might not be able to fill all our needs but I have been pleased with what we have been able to do so far. Next stop is hopefully a key forward. We haven't had many of them over the last 20 years.

We have a verbal agreement with an ex-AFL tall forward. Just waiting for him to sign on the dotted line...

Yes so far so good and with a little bit of luck the benefactors that we all love and respect are rallying the troops to pay for it.
No good doing all this recruiting and making a $300k loss next year.
PD that would be great news sounds like by the end of the week we may know.
Is anybody aware of the Mortons whereabouts, can't recall seeing them in the photos Kerryanne took.

You would probably find jared sulking somewhere about how hard done by he is and how he's the best wafl player going around...

You would like to think that the club wouldn't put itself in a situation where it would loose $300k DF. It looks to me as if the club has allocated so much towards recruiting and have a list of priorities and are trying to tick as many of those off as possible.

In saying that though if a player becomes available that will make a difference then sometimes you have to weigh up whether its worth it or not to spend that little bit extra. If said player will help you win more games than that means bigger crowds and more money being spent over the bar and on merchandise. All of that means more money coming in and you may even recoup the extra money that you spent on said player.

In regards to the Morton brothers I think I may have seen a picture of Jarryd but don't recall seeing one of Mitch.

The guy we have lined up was on a list for about 3 years, but as far as I can tell only played a handful of games. He is described as a tall mobile forward. He found himself behind one or two good ones at the club he was at. I've not researched his form in the AFL reserves, though he did play in one of the better second tier competitions (not he NEAFL). Otherwise I don't know a lot about him. He comes from over East as far as I know. I suspect he will sign, but until you get that signature and they suit up in the red and black round 1 you just never know. I don't think he was dropped off the AFL team's list because of injury.

If we get that good tall forward, Mitch Morton becomes a very valuable player. Instead of being the main forward target he has been and as Paul Bevan was he will not get the same attention and can drift about and kick opportunist goals.
Stacky and Collard will also be better players feeding off the crumbs from that tall target.

Also if Angus can kick 7 goals in a grand final, I would be resting him forward not on the bench.
Christian Ayres needs to step up to give us this forward flexibility.
I hope they don't go in with Johston or Latch as the back up.
Yep let us get him signed then we can celebrate and look for ways of paying the bills.
